I think it just deletes the giveaway and refunds people who entered their points (although if you're running out of points, you really should be a bit more selective in your entries...). As for the timing, it really depends on what your goal is. If you want a ton of entries, then 1 week is fine. If you'd rather it go to people "on the ball" (so to speak), then a much shorter time frame is better.

Since it's your first one, I'd suggest just leaving it. Too many deletions may get you flagged, so if it's simply to make it a shorter time, not really worth it.

You will crush the dreams of hundreds (even thousands) of entrants. But, seriously, the copies in your inventory are all non-tradable so, in case you don't own any other giftable copies (or codes), you should delete this or contact support to delete it.

When you delete a giveaway, people's points are refunded to them. The only thing that affects you really is that it continues to occupy one of your giveaway slots, of which you should have about five now. As you now know, things like the running time cannot be changed once the giveaway is created, so try to be sure you have everything exactly the way you want it on the confirmation page. Thanks.
