Once the app gets rollin' and picks up downloads, I'd be interested in your thoughts on Amazon Underground, ya know, from a dev standpoint. Since it is a bit of a new thing, and certainly different from other markets.

As far as submitting and publishing goes, it is the same as most other places. But the problem I have with it is just the way Amazon itself does things. They say any game can be picked for the Underground game of the day, but to get picked you have to pay to have it featured. Also their analytics system is terrible, you have to pay for a lot of the stats that most places give for free and they have even charged me despite not using the premium stuff.. Also you have to run your stats through their calculator in order to find out how much
you will be paid. Past all that stuff, it is a really nice way to get more people's hands on an app and it could lead to more sales on other places. It seems like there are quite a few that try it on Underground for free and end up buying it on Google Play.

Hmm, seems like Amazon has quite some work to do if they ever want their Appstore to truly compete with Apple's and Google Play.
I hear people argue iOS has the better Appstore and app support. Seeing as Android has the specs for better games, and makes up more of the worldwide phones sales this has always made me sort of mad. Other than piracy being more rampant on Android with sideloading, do you, as a dev, agree iOS is better for apps, and why/why not?

Personally Android is better for a few reasons, one it is a lot cheaper to develop for and easier to manage file sizes. Two from what I've read and looked into stuff like itunes like to nickle and dime developers, putting a game on google play is a one time fee of $25 where as itunes it is $100 a year per app. Piracy is not too much of a worry because no matter what platform it is always going to happen. All that said this is new territory for me as I primarily make pc games and decided to do this on the side.

Oh, wow! I knew Apple had a $100 fee compared to Google's $25, but was not aware it was per year and per app; that does seem awfully greedy on Apple's part.
