IIRC, Universe Sandbox has some insane achievement which even the developer called a bad idea later on, which triggers after you've run the game for a total of one year or so...

He probably tries to get achievements, which involve playing for certain amount of time like "Rule over your universe for 30.4 days" or "Rule over your universe for 12 months".
