The game used to cost money. I'm not sure when it became a free game. This is probably a key from before the switch.

The main bonus for winning giveaways for games that once had a cost and are now free is that you can get card drops for that version. If you got the game via the free version, you don't get the card drops, and the only way you can get cards for the game is through either in-game purchases (Clicker Heroes, for example), or buying them in the Market.
