Oh yes, the original freeware Gamemaker project, which is now referred to as Spelunky Classic, is my all-time favourite platformer and I've been going back to it for years. I've done well over 4000 runs over the years and still keep coming back now and then. IMHO it is a masterclass in game design with tremendous depth and replayability, made even more impressive by the fact that it was largely a one-man show and free to boot. I would highly recommend that you try it out, though it might feel like a step down once you've played the reboot. This is the official download page:
