Description

One of the best horror games I've ever played. Granted, it didn't elicit the same raw im-not-playing-this-anymore terror in me that five nights at freddy's did (side note: shut up), but it did freak me out quite a bit (in fact, SOMA set off my heart arythmia a little bit, dont worry im ok). You know its a Frictional Games work when you hide in one spot for fifteen minutes because monsters. Besides, the horror isn't intended to be the sort of pewdiepie-bait, get-your-adrenaline-freaking-out, short-term sp00ks sort of horror that people have come to expect from the horror game genre. It's more of a story-based terror (very isaac asimov or philip k dick, with mayhaps a touch of edgar allen poe, and the most unique spin on brain uploading ive ever seen in a sci-fi work) enhanced with subtle touches to the scenery (whoa guy covered in robot juice wait the robot juice is replacing half his head oh god). It's the difference between a monster jumping and roaring from your closet and a furry paw gently caressing your ankle from under the bed. The latter screws with your head more.

Plus, robots! Cute robots who think they're peoples! Everybody loves ridiculously human robots, right? And there are absolutely no disturbing reasons as to why they act so human! why would you assume that?

This is a Steam gift, so be sure to check your email if/when you win!

Also, Frictional Games has a prequel miniseries going so be sure to check that out. unless you want a no-spoiler experience. in that case, wait until after you beat the game.

Thanks! ^^

WOW, nice, thank you. I'm playing Amnesia right now (I got it when it was free ~1 week ago) and I'm loving it. Thank you very much for your generosity.

wow, your description makes me want it even more. i preordered amnesia a machine for pigs and was disappointed it didn't have most of my favorite things from the dark descent, but it sounds like soma will be my redemption!

Machine for Pigs was made by the infamous "The Chinese Room" dev studio. They make mediocre games, at best. It seems Frictional Games outsourced the game to them.

Soma is actually made by Frictional. It's excellent.
