Risen has been in HB a couple of times, that has make we all see Risen as something "cheap", "bundled trash" or "free cv", however, this is false.
Yes, Risen is a bundled game but that doesn't make it a bad game. In fact, with all his flaws, I think its a good game. I even have it twice, drm free physical version (or maybe it has some crappy DRM, i never had any problems) and steam version from HB.

Played it outside and inside steam, completed with the Don's side, etc. Lets check:

1. Spiritual succsesor of Gothic 3
2. If the developers didnt bankrupt, Risen will have been Gothic 4 and not that "arcania" thing. You can find proof of this if you google a little bit. There was easy for them to convert their gothic 4 into a new franchise that continue with gothic 3.
3. One of those games that are "hard" at the beginning. You need to be careful because you are a peasant. I like that kind of difficulty curve, some places, areas, enemies... that you need to left because you are not ready for it, etc.

If you like Gothic type of games, semi open world games and/or adventures I think you'll have fun with Risen.
