Description

AT THE BREAK ROOM OF DISAPPOINTMENT™

Having had nothing to eat since breakfast, you follow the directions to the break room. Their break room, that is. Although it's beginning to feel otherwise, you don't actually work here.

Among the usual sorts of break room things you indeed see a cake, which appears to have been sitting out all day long There is also a nicely melted tub of ice cream. I'm sure it was all delicious several hours ago.

With the stale cake detour getting you no closer to the fun inside the ZIGGURAT OF DISAPPOINTMENT™, you give up and exit the way you came in. You make your way back to the elevator. Or try to. It's a big place, this.

A juvenile desire to explore forbidden territory? A reluctance to ask for directions? Disorientation? Hunger for better giveaways? One of these could explain it, the decision to try one last door. The door that opens to reveal a stair leading down...

Descend, BENEATH THE ZIGGURAT OF DISAPPOINTMENT™... YES, IT'S FINALLY READY!.

Oh, I've decided to put the rest of the cheap stuff at "Level 0" - should have done that from the start. I mean, how many people who aren't "Level 0" are missing many of these games?

Good luck! :)

The real disappointment is that there isn't any pie!

Hmm, not sure where you're stuck, so I dunno what to hint... :( If you got to the part with three questions, I assume you'll try

12

with whatever you found... But if you're stuck somewhere else, I'm not sure... :( I mean, it's the same puzzle over and over again, so whatever you did to get here, keep doing that. :)

I did go back and add some better hints to the tutorial, although anyone who reached this point should be well past needing it. Until you reach the final puzzle, all these other puzzles are the exact same thing.

I'm still stuck in the THE SADISTICALLY OVERSIZED MAZE-LIKE FORGOTTEN UNDERGROUND STORAGE AREA OF DISAPPOINTMENT™. I guess I just need to do a proper run through again but I don't feel like going through 600 giveaways again right now lmao. I'll get back to it later

Ahh, yeah, it's a bit ridiculous in there... If it helps, you start on the bottom row of a 24x24 grid. And if you find any shimmering blue portals, don't worry about drawing them - it's just the pity wormhole. :)

From the last part I guess you already know why you're making a map, so good luck when you can force yourself to go through it again... :)

Not sure it's gold just yet... :)

Andf this is anything like their older games, you'll need a brand new expensive ultra-computer to play it... I never had to turn down so many graphical things as that original Metro 2033... :)

Good luck! :)

Yeah their games are pretty demanding. And with reason, they look absolutely gorgeous! I can run the redux versions on max settings tho so I should be able to at least decently run this one (here's hoping, I can't afford another upgrade lmao)

I should probably reinstall some of that old stuff, see how it runs today... :) But I'm still resisting the cpu upgrade, want to see some post-spectre/meltdown/whatever chips for sale... :)

Bonus points if AMD manage not to suck for a couple more years... Cost, performance, things should be great. Hooray for competition! :)

If it was pulverized, it should have combusted itself. Pure hafnium catches fire at contact with air.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, this was a way to make people hunt the missing thing, without regard for what sort of thing it might be. Something easily found in a list with google. Completely arbitrary. It could have been Pink Floyd singles, dog breeds, anything. :) Well, maybe a box of dogs wouldn't be such a good idea, but you know what I mean. :)

But, just for fun, let's forget about that. Assume the pulverised box was the same as the boxes in the rest of the warehouse. So it would have been "a small box labelled HAFNIUM".

This is one of those rare cases where I actually thought about the words a bit since like you say, some of these things are impossible. :)

It isn't "a small box of HAFNIUM". It's just labelled HAFNIUM. Could be anything in there. :)

Maybe the original box was destroyed long ago, and generations of warehouse workers have congratulated themselves on cleverly getting away with something, every time some fool re-destroys it? Probably been nothing but packing peanuts and scrap for 50 years... :)

Or, I dunno, maybe it's where they keep their alcohol, cocaine, reefer, porn... Who knows? :)

Once upon a time I remember hearing about a prank. Someone had placed a box up on an inconvenient shelf, far out of the way, and written just the right thing on it to ensure nobody ever bothered with it. Holiday decorations for some minor holiday nobody ever celebrated or decorated for? I don't recall...

But, of course, eventually someone was bored enough to check it out. Apparently the contents that had been carefully sealed inside were quite ripe, so to speak. Glad I was only hearing about it... :)

Good luck! :)

Sorry, I'm a programmer, so if it's 1 hour to write script vs 5 minutes to do manually, I write script. And even so, I finished previous parts manually. It took way more time and efforts to do it, so this time I knew what to do.

Permalink

Yes, I think that was the correct choice. :) Only a former programmer here, sadly... Nowadays, hmm...

I can remember enough regular expressions to keep out of trouble, but any real language I'm limited to reading and tinkering... If I have to write anything from scratch I've got to re-learn it every single time. Fortunately it doesn't come up much. :)

As for the other part... you are sadist. O_O
I started to make a map, but the paper was too small so I had to completely redraw it. XD
It's huge! You have put a lot of effort into this! Thank you! :3

Comment has been collapsed.

Glad someone's having fun anyway! :)

Oh, just in case it's not obvious - there isn't any secret meaning behind the games or the lists of stuff. They could have been Beatles songs or Nobel Prize winners or anything... :)

I needed a list with a specific number of items we could all google, to find what's missing. So if I needed 20 things for some area, I'd find a list of 21 whatevers, and hold one back to be the answer. Some clever person could have connected them all somehow, made one more layer of puzzle with them, but I'm not clever enough for that. :)

Sending people through an endless stream of bundle leftovers, I suppose it wasn't exactly kindness, but I had to suffer along with everyone... :)

Sorry about the paper, maybe I should have said where you are, the dimensions, something like that. So everyone knows where to start drawing... Oh well...

So, hmm, it was a lot of effort, but it was pretty pointless... :)

Haha, I think that you have suffered the most. The realization must have been exhausting. ;)

Nono, like this it's perfect. I like to draw maps when playing, I have tons of them!! :D I just always start in the wrong place or take too small paper. ;)

I am ashamed, but kanji are too much for me yet... :/ And google translator wasn't of any big help. XD

Glad you had fun with the maps! :) In the old days I always had to make a map but nowadays I'm too lazy for that sort of thing... Give me the auto-map please! :)

Oh, it's just random Utena song lyrics, couldn't help myself... :) Virtual Star Embryology / バーチャルスター発生学 hmm... google google... Yeah, I feel sorta obligated to go through and fix things up in the last part, it was quite rushed... :( Thought I'd get a day to relax after finally connecting the maze, but people were zooming through in an hour... Oh well. :)

I should put something in the giveaway descriptions, say something about the different games, but I'm pretty drained right now... Figure I could relax a bit... But if I wait too long nobody's going to read them... Sigh.

Oh, Utena is great, if you like that sort of thing I mean. It's probably not great for everyone. :)

To solve this puzzle I had to open so many sites in my browser, that Firefox was almost collapsing (buffering all the time).
