Payday 2, if you judge by hours played. Dishonored or Alan Wake, if else.

Okay, nice! I just got Payday 2 actually - I see a lot of players on Steam with a great many hours.

So you're a masochist I see... xD

My favorite was probably Witcher 3. I got lost in that game nightly for months. So much rich storytelling, beautiful environments, and fun roleplaying.
Comment has been collapsed.
That's great! It is on my wishlist. Did you ever play the previous ones? I don't know if that's a suggested prerequisite or not.

I played Witcher 2, which was a very good game for its time, but Witcher 3 outstrips it wildly in scope and fidelity. You'll understand more of Witcher 3's story and character relationships if you play 1 and 2 (or if you read the books), but it's not necessary. There's a handy video that Polygon put together to catch people up for Witcher 3 if it was the only one they'd play.

Okay! That helps a lot knowing there is a summary video. I played the 1st and 2nd AC games, and wanted to continue, but I got so far behind (they release waay too often in my opinion) that I haven't bothered catching up. A good video would help there...

Rocket League

Haha same! I just hit Plat 3 and I still have so much to learn.

It's a pure addiction for me to get better in this game. The skill you can amass in this game is probably endless.
Diamond 2 over here :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh man! Haha one day, one day. For sure though! The skill ceiling has risen so much. I was rising star a couple seasons back and now Gold 1 I'm seeing similar skill levels...
Comment has been collapsed.
Sure but that's not just skill shift rather a change in skill distribution. I remember how the slight consistentcy with some aerials brought me to Shooting Star in Season 3. These days some players in gold have the technical skill being sufficent to reach diamond but lack good desicision making and consistency. Always remember these 3 pillars and don't neglect one and I'm sure you'll keep on making progress.

Yes, SunlessKhan has a great video about that (one of the "Why you suck at rocket league" series) where he speaks on the mental and physical skill pots, and the necessity to improve both and not neglect one.
By three pillars then, you mean technical skill, decision making, and consistency?
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes. Ok you could consider mental strength pillar four but that's really hard to train.

Half Life, Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons, Portal, Night Sky, Schein
Comment has been collapsed.
Nice! I loved Brothers. I had never played a game like that before.
Check out Portal 2 if you haven't yet! It's quite good, in my opinion.
Comment has been collapsed.
I played Portal 2 as well, but still prefer the first one over it. The atmosphere and game mechanics were just mind-blowing when it came out. And i hate how they dumbed down the gameplay in 2, with only a few tiles in the rooms you can place portals at, taking away creative/alternative approaches. You can't perform the good old "shoot a new portal while standing in one" and then back out, the game forces you out. And you can't rotate objects the way you want, e.g. place a cube on its edge to save portals in the challenges.

Oh, I actually never realized those aspects were removed! I guess to them it was polishing the game but to us it would be removing creativity.
