Haven't played in years, still have some boards and stones around somewhere... Don't remember how much that stuff cost, think just the shipping was less than this program... :( Fortunately buying bundle games is a cheaper hobby... :)

Yeah, it sounds like complete overkill if you're not already into the game... I think nowadays the fancy chess programs have many useful features for beginners, but this, not so much... :)
Looking at the giveaway game I think you're probably right... :) If they changed things they'd probably gain "normal" video game players, but lose all the boobie hunters... :) Good luck! :)

It looks like a strong program for playing this board game. If the picture of the board on that wiki page doesn't look familiar, you probably wouldn't want to waste any money on the program... :) Guess that's more money saved for the Summer sale... :)

It's not exactly a musou wannabe as the map isn't so extensive, it's more like... a simple arena with a few mobs and the boss which is one of the waifus you see on the trailer. First I was like "hell no, I would play this sh*t", then I gave a try and holy crap, the mechanics are good! Well, the story sucks as you can tell by the "plot" exposed on screenshots and stuff, but back in my days we didn't have much story in games either and the games kicked ass.
Also, is this Crazy-stone-whazzit actually Go? If so...

Ah yes, I already made fun of this with a friend who is actually interested in a good Go Game.
The Problem here is, you don't really pay for the game itself but the "advanced AI", just check the new Fritz versions, those are pretty expensive too.
I myself would not pay for a game like that because let's face it, we play japanese games for the boobies and not the Crazy Stones ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Probably aren't many people who actually "need" a program this strong. When I was playing there were hmm, probably only two in the local club who would have been close enough to matter. :) Guess it depends on the location of the club, though. :) Maybe in Korea half the club would be strong enough? :)
Although, hmm, I think many weaker players would enjoy having such a strong opponent available at any time, right in their own home. Maybe you could use it to review your games, find mistakes etc. Assuming it's really playing at the strength of a 7d human, that is.
Hmm, I bought that Mahjong boobie game on Steam, and didn't even install it yet. :( But I was never very interested in Mahjong... Oh well. :)
