Mhm... I think it depends how you define insanity. I read once that indeed if you are close to someone who suffers from depression it is more likely that you yourself will get depressive someday. So this sounded for me kind like "contagious". But I forgot how high the statistics were. Probably better as it would likely make me even more depressed ;/
But I don't think that other, especially, uhm, more "crazy" insanities/mental illnesses are contagious.
