Bat has longer reach, but knife can do a lot of bleeding damage if it connects. As for me, I would prefer to be on the side with guns :D

I go for the one without a weapon who has knowledge of and experience in Krav Maga. ;-)

Bat would require a lot of build up movements to be able to strike hard enough to cause severe damage, with a knife one can be much more nimble and cause quick damage. No experience with either, rather remain that way too O_O

I think with two opponents of equal skill in an open area, the bat would typically win. Longer reach means better chance of first strike, and any hit with a bat is probably enough to at least stun someone out of attacking. Then the person with the bat is free to swing away again...

Bat VS machete or short sword or something would be a more even fight, I think.

Knife, if you manage to sneak up on the bat and finish it off before it can move :D

Well it all depends on the fighters' ability. The bat has a greater reach but the knife is a fast weapon so whichever fighter uses the weapon to their advantage more wins.

I would always take the weapon with the most reach :D But the knife could be thrown :S But nevertheless i would pick the bat!

I was legitimately confused for a moment why you wanted to compare an animal vs a weapon in a fight..

I also thought you were talking about the animal. How does one control a bat?

If a knife is inanimate, the choice is simple. If it is, on the other hand, some kind of magic weapon that moves by its own free volition, I can't decide because of all the unsurety.

if I was in a life or death fight and I had to chose between these 2 weapons I'd chose the bat for the longer reach, and I have some experience with it, not by beating people of course. anyway if my oponent has no experience with the knife I think I'd end up victorious
