The first game I played without knowing anything about amanita was Samorost1 which is a free browser based game. After completing it I got really suprised at how good this free point and click adventure was but then never really looked it up much more. Some time later Machinarium was being released and I eventually got the game through a Humble Bundle. Noticing that the game creators had made Samorost1 and seeing lots of good things about Machinarium I was excited to try it and after a quick weekend I had finished Machinarium and it was amazing. I absolutely adore that game, the graphical artwork, the music, the sound, everything basicly it just fits so well together. It is a work of art for sure.

Now I have neither played Samorost2 or Botanicula yet, but I will.
