my favorite horror 2d game is probably the cat lady it was very interesting.
and really dark and messed up in a good way.
downfall which takes place in the same world was pretty good to.

As far as I can remember, I didn't play that many 2D Horror games yet ^^"
But The Coma Recut was nice. The not so nice teacher was a little too persistent for my taste, but the story was good and I would love to play it again and find all notes, or get another ending.

2D? I think I haven't played any. I don't play many horror games, but Amnesia was my favourite so far.

As for 2D horror games, I played Knock Knock, but didnt finish it cause at the time I wasnt expecting something so dark >.<

Fran Bow. I didn't play it but I watched a Let's Play of it when it first came out. I own it now and have forgotten enough of the story and gameplay that I think I could play it now and it'd feel like the first time. Thank you!

Haven't played much 2D horror games, but Distraint was a pretty neat psychological horror game. The Coma Recut was probably among the best that I've played though.

I havent played any 2D horrors that I can think of off the top of my head.
However, I did think The Swapper was a very good puzzle game that had a really dark creepy atmosphere (definately not a horror though!)

I guess it's the first Corpse Party. Ah, and also Ib... it's free-to-play, with no steam release and graphic updates (like there was in Mad Father, for example), but it's really great for Halloween. And also the free-to-play Witch's House.
Out of non-Japanese games, i'd say it's Downfall (also The Cat Lady, but it's not so scary).
