Description

This is basically a repackaging of the Deponia games. It's up to you whether or not you want to allow those who own the entire series to enter for this package.

I've been lead to believe on numerous occasions that that doesn't apply in cases like this where it's not a regular bundle/package but actually a separate game/appid. Stuff like this needs deciding upon and stating somewhere officially.

It has already been officially stated.

  • We ask users not to enter giveaways for packages if they already own the majority of the games. This allows for winners that will receive the most value out of their gift. In the end, the giveaway creator has the final say, and if they believe the winner owns too many of the packaged games, we'll allow them to request a new winner.

If a winner owns any part of a package, the creator may ask for a re-roll. Most giveaway creators are fairly generous, however, so there are rarely any problems. This is not to be confused with differing versions of the same game (e.g. Metro 2033 Redux) which are considered separate and distinct.

This particular package contains a lot more than just the three games, so it would not be surprising for the creator to allow entry to anyone who has an interest.

My point was that this isn't just a package though, just like your example of Metro it's a separate game. Your first post implies the user will be granted a reroll for ownership of any of the "included" games yet your second post contradicts this.

As I don't own the Complete Journey, I can only go by the description (which is somewhat vague). My understanding is that the package contains all three games along with additional material, but my understanding could be wrong. If the three games have been remastered or altered, then the package would fall into the second category. If they remain the original versions, then the first category applies.

Changes to the content, if any shouldn't factor into it. This isn't three existing products PLUS bonus content its a separate product. It has its own library entry, its own achievements, if it was a multiplayer product it would likely have its own servers.

You aren't entering for a product you already own as the developers/publishers chose to sell it as a new product rather than a package of existing products.

Your uncertainty in the matter only highlights why it needs to be clearly defined rather than being at the whim of the staff on a product by product basis.

"The matter" is not at the whim of the staff on a product by product basis. The rule about inclusion is clear, as is the rule about differing versions being considered different games. The criterion for those rules' application is also clear. As for my uncertainty in this example, the sole basis for it is my ignorance of whether or not this package meets the aforementioned criterion, and that is clear as well.

What is not clear is why you seem to be arguing about a point you just made and with which I agreed. If this "isn't three existing products PLUS bonus content," then it is not possible for anyone to own part of it.
