I've sadly spent all my trucking time on Euro Truck Simulator, and haven't had time to explore the American one yet. That's the age old problem, isn't it? Too many truck simulators, too little time.

I have never had the opportunity to play with anything other than a joystick, keyboard, & mouse. Maybe because a joystick is too imprecise, I prefer keyboard and mouse over adding a joystick to the mix. :)
Oh, yeah, I can see that. I think a controller would be better than a joystick.
If you have the ability to get a wheel, I highly recommend it. I bought a Logitech G29 + shifter last November as a Christmas gift to myself, and it's completely changed the way I play. I discovered a love of driving games I never knew I had - I always liked arcade racing games, but this is on a whole other level. From the silly shenanigans of Forza Horizon 3, to the ultra-fast racing of F1 2017, to the realism and self-improvement of Assetto Corsa, to the relaxation and exploration of Euro Truck Sim... I suddenly love everything driving related. I have a keyboard tray on my desk, which is very convenient, as the wheel has not left my desk since I got it almost a year ago.
An absolute fantastic game that does not require any sort of controller (a mouse is helpful)! I strongly recommend it!
