it's so weird seeing a game title, having no idea what it is, and then learning that it's part of a long-running franchise that hundreds and possibly thousands have enjoyed for years and you never knew

Yeah, it's interesting how unknown Asterix seems to be state-side, despite it getting its own separate translation to the UK one, while in most of Europe, at least western Europe, Asterix is like a household name.
Yeah my parents talked about it back in the 90s-early 00s and I had comics in our local newspaper, but I've not heard it mentioned at all besides this game and my French friend since then.
