Thank you for the giveaway! :)
I've just started getting into roguelikes myself. I've had Slay the Spire for a few years that I got in a combo pack and forgot about, then started playing it a while back along with Balatro and now I can't believe I never played roguelike deck builders! :o

They can be fun and Slay the Spire (along with Balatro) is the one I am currently playing. But my brain cannot handle all those "figure out the optimum way" games when it's depraved of dopamine of gradual, permanent game progression :D.
So I have plenty of titles to choose from, might as well give out the rest to people who'll enjoy them more ^^

I agree! I wish there were "persistent" modes for those kinds of games where you can build your own scenario or save progression, and then either "continue" or just "start fresh" any time you like. It's sort of against the concept of the roguelike to have persistent progression other than the unlocks, though. :D
And yeah, they are complicated, which I love, since you have to explore and learn - but it does get taxing when you play too many different ones at a time!

Yeah, as you said: more persistence defeats the core idea of the genre :). I think you're right, my issues are probably caused by lack of motivation to go "in depth" into the game (probably due to being frustrated by the difficulty "cliff", as you're often thrown directly into the game right away, combined with being mentally tired from work). Then I get frustrated by me sucking at it, start being fussy over "danged RNG" (b/c of course it's never me!) and don't have the fun others do.
Ah well, gotta get some therapy I guess (or limit my exposure to the genre, clearly I'm not a good match :D).
But I am very happy for everyone else that enjoys those and I respect the results (since I know that it takes more than I have/am willing to give)!
