Description

And so we reach the final station.
Putting a bump here would be too easy - it is a test after all - test of things mentioned below.

I'm not sure how many people will read this, but here's the explanation of this little train, and its weird descriptions:

Seeing few people entering my giveaways, my thought drifted to to probability of winning. Naturally, the fewer people, the greater the chances.
It made me think about what I would do in such a situation. Some part of me said, I'd try to hide such a giveaway, or if it's impossible, let as few people know about
it to increase my chances. But another said "WTF dude, is greed really my go to answer?"
So many people do bad things, but so many people do good things as well. This site is a living proof of that. Heck, I just made a thread about things black, and got blacklisted by some users. Good and bad, side by side.
I don't know if there's a point, I guess I wanted to sort of test you, or point you in the direction of my thoughts - to find out if you might think about this in a similar way, or do you have a different approach.
Still, no matter my vices, personally I think that being too greedy in such a positive place would make me a worse person. Sure, I'll try to maximize my chances of winning, but I don't want to make it harder for others to win. What you read throughout the carts was an approximation of my though process, but what's important is that it was about me, and my choices.

However, right here and right now, the decision belongs to you my dear reader. I will nudge a couple people to come here to get somebody here in the first place, but will you choose your own potential gain among those few present, or will you let others know about this hidden train and decrease your chances?
The choice is yours.

Btw, since I forgot to metion it - train has 10 games that appeared to me to be darker in theme, and 7 that appeared to be more positive - well, town of light being black sheep of both camps - that's cause more peole voted for stepping out of the dark, causing the train to appear, and they did so in proportion of around 10:7 for dark : light. Just a fun (hopefully) fact.

Btw #2 - forgotten cart

Usually, sharing a invited-only train is not morally acceptable to me.
But here is so many zero-entry GAs that make me wonder if I should tell others.
Telling my friends is easy, but I am not sure if you are okay with GAs won by a small group of people.
Sharing to the public? yes it's another option, but why me? Shouldn't it be you to share the information of your GAs to public?
Do you really think it's okay that I to post this train into other thread?

I think I will wait and see if your entries still low.
Maybe some others will find this, and I don't have to bother then. :p

Well, maybe not another thread, since we have an original one already pointing here...
But that is still an option. Original thread, other thread, private messages, just friends, general public, groups, do it now, wait for later - so many possibilities, and just you to decide...
Still, you got here on your own without helpful comments - perhaps as a reward for such attentiveness, for proving yourself worthy enough to be here, some reward is appropriate, hm?

There should be at least another one reached here.
What is he thinking about?

Since I can't share a direct link to GA, 'cause I think it violates the SG rules, so I just left a comment in the thread that new carts exist

You said that the new train has 17 carts and in your profile I see 17 new invite-only GAs, but I counted only 16 carts.
Is this some extra puzzle or am I just bad at math?

Neither. Fault lies with me. I'm just prone to making mistakes while making 17 cart train with ominous thoughts.
It has been rectified.however. Just like your lack of blue heart from me. :)

Well it's really well hidden is it? But anyways, thanks! The 10:7 ratio is for the poll right?

It's for the poll at the time of making the rest of the train. Train was supposed to be more focused on that (black, light, dark), but then I got moody and shifted the theme to what we have now. Without thinking however, I included 17 prepared games, and so the sitution is as it is...

Sad, but only stands to prove that you need to have something, that some people lack to get past 2 ended carts. Even with erpeated bumps long after said carts have ended. Makes you wonder - what people think - or don't think...
Although, I've got to admit - I expected people to stop at 2 ended carts mainly because I probably would have stopped there as well, so I don't blame them - but this too is part of a hidden train.

It's very clever. I also wonder that sometimes, how I also can relate, since I also did a puzzle train that was only supposed to be two standalone giveaways but turned into a train, only two people have passed to the end on the time of writing.

Sad, but only stands to prove that you need to have something, that some people lack to get past 2 ended carts.

I feel like it's just people wanting free stuff with little to no effort, I think that's why people like doing puzzles, there's just more effort put in it. But for me, I just like digging "old" stuff.

I'm not sure why be so covert in a "guess a game before it's revealed" afteer a guess is right, but your thread, your rules I guess.

Lmao you're right, idk why I'm being so covert about it either. I'm going to make some edits then :>

Edit: Just fyi: some hints are just real sh- bad. Mostly because it's just too vague, will try to make the hints more like hints from on <:

Greed isn't bad. It's what people do with it. :> It can be one hell of a motivator for an overachiever. It forces others to steal.
Thanks for all the extra chances.

To peer through a window, and to find a glimpse of a living soul is truly a beautiful thing to behold. To be given a chance to see into another persons thought process and share an experience with them and others, I am very grateful to you, and to the person whom invited me here.
Thank you for your generosity and the effort you made to make a wonderful train to ride on.

Oh, I won the "last" cart of this amazing train?
This will always feel special, regardless of the game. Which does look good actually! So it's double special!
Thank you very much sallachim. And don't fret about the blacklists. I still think this is a great community full of kind people. These red numbers don't say too much IMO

Stay safe.

Glad you're happy with your win. :)
I saw let's plays of it long time ago, and I liked what I saw, so I intend to play it in the future as well. ^^
On the topic of the BLs - while they rose slowly up to a monstrous number of six, just today I saw a spike of WLs as well - equally 6 - in just one day. So I'm not really worried about them. And the community is definitely great, no doubt about that.
And on the other hand, you keep popping in different places. What I want to say by that, is that somehow gifting feels better when I give to a member of a community that I at least recognise - and you I recognise. So yeah, cheers and congrats on the win. :)

I saw the game in a TinyBuild stream long time ago, in 2016, some sort of "E3/PAX presentation" that came out of nowhere. Never thought I'd be playing three of those games this year, thanks to Steamgifts.

And thanks! Reading that made me happy. I really want to do much more - I don't have a good ratio and I'm incapable of doing public giveaways atm, and these things make me feel a little guilty - So the least I can do is participate and enter only what I intend to play.
Even though I feel a little lost in the forums from time to time, I still can take part in some of the events. I think the dedication some people have here is really inspiring.

I appreciate the time you take to create and comment these gib and reply people. Cheers :D

Oh? 3 games? If you've played them, what are your thoughts on them? Of the games developed/published by tinyBuild I've played only Divide by Sheep, and No Time To Explain, and both titles I liked very much. With how many people have their games wishlisted I'm starting to think that they do represent a quality level - not the highest quality mind you, but a quality nonetheless.

Incapable of doing giveaways and having bad ratio? Don't feel bad, both thing happen, and at one of them means you've had some luck, and that's hard to cry over about, unless you regret winning that much. Although I'm starting to feel bad about my number of remaining gibs myself, cause I thought up a couple of future events, and now have few giveaways to give for them. It's almost to the point where I'm thinking of buying bundles just(!) for giveaways.

And active participation is very good. As giveaway creator, I appreciate hundred times more comments of "some significance" over simple "thank you" or "happy cakeday", since they feel very empty and automatic, even though they might be loaded with gratitude and happiness. Just bit of time and effort put into a comment goes to make giveaway's creator day one shade brighter.
Entering only what you intend to play is a sign of maturity on this site. Don't lose that mindset, and you might just play all your games in the end. ;)

You're right, and it seems 2016 was one of their best years, with titles like Clustertruck, Punch Club and Speedrunners. They are competent to say the least.
I mixed Lovely Planet with Lovely Planet Arcade, which is the one released in 2016, so it's just two. I won Lovely Planet three days ago, and now Final Station. Road to Ballhalla is the only one I played from that stream. It's pretty fun, albeit really simple. It's basically "World's Hardest Game", but with good humor, music, and decent graphics lol

I don't regret winning, I just dislike how it got hard to me to buy gifts. Everything that I buy comes with a region lock, and I'm not talking about the cheap/grey market sites, it's just how online stores work here. Maybe I got used to buying directly from Steam and being able to gift anyone I wanted back in the days. And after that I still had my credit card and could buy from Humble and Fanatical.

But hey. I don't want to be dramatic. I still have some alternatives, and I plan on doing my first region free train soon. It's just how difficult and expensive gifting has become to me compared to before. I'll be fine :P

Thanks for your support. I wish success for your events. Having fewer gifts in a train is absolutely fine, but I think I understand how you're feeling.

Closer now? :)

Much agreement about the kindness of strangers. SG is a good venue to learn about greed and generosity.
That, and the practical aspects of probability ratios and "luck".

Preferring to keep my comments to group and private giveaways, I would be very content if SG provided an anonymous "thread bump" button. Of course that presents its own set of challenges (rate limited to X amount of "bumps" or "fractions of a bump" per day?) but it would be very handy.

You've given me pause for thought.

Thank you for the riddle of self-discovery. And happy cake-factory day \o/
