Metroidvania PLUS pinball! It's a great combination and works really well together. It's just a 2D platformer type game, so not super taxing - but I don't think there's a native Mac version.

Yeah, there isn't a native mac version. My computer is an 8 year old macbook pro, so don't wanna load windows on it. That's not as bad as it sounds. They're a pretty efficient machine, so it runs most of the games I have tried that have a mac version. Just not new AAA big graphics games. Wouldn't dare. lol. But indie games are no bother.
And while I will need to replace the mac eventually for work. I kinda am considering a windows laptop for gaming.
Hmm, kinda run into the same issues with the Steam deck. =) It currently has less compatible games than a mac. People that already own a windows computer aren't going to mind that too much though since they can still play the others.
I have 1420 mac compatible games in my library.
790 of my games verified/playable on Steamdeck.

You could try to run Windows in a VM.
Maybe a Steam deck is calling your name...
