Not close to be as hard as dark souls.
However, most of what made dark souls hard was the fact that they didn't explain anything right.
DS gets easier after the first "shell shock" and if you google enough.
This game is less difficult, but it stays difficult. There are many times in which you get a new ability and you think "WTF? I'm way too OP with this!" and the game lets you think that for like 5 seconds before pushing you and your controller even further to the edge.
I don't know, it is a bit hardcore sometimes, but only a bit, in fact, game does not require you to be some really skilled player to beat it.
I don't think I'm skilled player, also playing it wasn't so hard, it was challenging in the best way possible, not frustrating (well, there was a couple of moments where it was frustrating a bit...) - but challenging.
Also, storytelling and graphics make it a definite must-play game =)
From what i heard , that game makes you want to literally rip your dick off , and eat it .
I never did that , so im up for the challenge !

Even Super Meatboy and They Bleed Pixels are harder. Heck, there are DOS games that are harder!!! So bring it on!
