yes, having him/her in your friend list should work..
simulate a purchase of the dlc collection as a gift, then choose the 'send directly through steam' option and you'll have all your friends listed: if anyone has one or more of the titles, it will be highlighted ;)

maybe teamviewer has a option to only share what you see. Otherwise there is also skype/google+ or just google for "share screen".
