The active user base should be at least 20k, but this one is likely will reach the usual 16–17k. Going for 4 weeks wouldn't have mattered in that aspect, over two-thirds of the entries tend to come in the first 24 and the last 4 hours anyway.

Umm, if you check the giveaway description you may notice some nonsense about a Level 2077 giveaway. Well, since Steamgifts levels only go up to 10 it's obviously a lie - but if you also check my profile you will see there is something going on.

Just look at the url, it's kinda not exactly hiding very well... :) Like a demo puzzle where they tell you how to solve it, so all you have to do is follow the directions... :)

Ahh, thank you, I think that always happens with preorders... That shouldn't be a problem, though - if I try to gift the game to someone who already owns it, Steam shouldn't let me. And surely nobody who would preorder this game is entering giveaways with a script... :)
Now if they bought it on GOG I'm screwed, but let's hope nobody's that big of a jerk... :)

Epic have shown that if the game is hyped enough, it doesn't need Steam. People will buy the game from whichever store has it.
So GOG exclusivity wouldn't have surprised me.

Considering that gog is planning to release a crossclient launcher (like playnite on steroids) it wouldn't make much sense to push exclusive titles at the same time - not counting some good old games that are not mainstream enough for steam.

That's true, but "people" do all sorts of things... :) This specific person ain't gonna buy anything from epic. :) I can wait for whatever to be on Steam, or GOG, or just play something else. :)
I think CDPR tried some umm, gwenty thing as a GOG exclusive but it turned up on Steam later. So I dunno, maybe they could have given this game a try, but why take the risk? There's no reason I can see to make it more difficult for people to buy your stuff, especially when it looks like it's going to be a big one... :)

Thing is, CDPR own GOG. So they would get all the money from there. While a Steam release means giving Valve a 20% cut.
Though Proton does complicate things. Cyberpunk isn't getting a Linux port but if Proton can run it on Linux, then releasing on Steam does open Cyberpunk to players that can't play it through GOG.

Well, I don't know the details, but I'm pretty sure some people just won't / can't buy on GOG. Maybe it's because they can buy Steam games from resellers or dodgy grey market or whatever, maybe GOG is just too expensive in their region, no clue. If I were trying to sell a game I'd rather have 80% of something than 100% of nothing. :) Maybe a future CDPR with several popular franchises pumping out games yearly could give exclusivity a try, but I don't think the current CDPR could survive it. All just assumptions on my part, of course. :)
I assume the epic store doesn't need to be profitable, since they have money pouring in from elsewhere... Don't think GOG can afford similar tactics. :)
But really, who cares about all this inside baseball... Just sell me a game, and let me play it! :)
