Wow! That's an amazing find, and I love that radiation, which we typically consider to be lethal/harmful, can be the source of life.
I've only known about the bacteria that thrive in deep oceanic hydrothermal vents that use chemosynthesis to convert the heavy chemical content in the water (which would be toxic to most life on earth) into energy and support little ecosystems of giant tube worms known as riftia pachyptila.

It makes you wonder what else could be out there. I suspect if there are aliens they are going to be weirder than anything in any game.

Yeah, we'd gotten so conditioned to believe that life required sunlight and liquid water, but that's certainly not the case, and immensely expands the possibility/probability of life on other planets.
