For me this game was a positive surprise. Although it wasn´t developed by Monolith I think this one is better then F.E.A.R. 2 in many ways.

For series, go Orphan Black or Sense8.
Sense8 is slow-moving though, but that's mostly because it has a large number of plotlines playing in parrallel
