From the Humble Extra Life Bundle 2017. Note that a Humble key older than 3 years could be problematic due to new policy. I don't anticipate any trouble, but if you run into an issue with the key please let me know.

After the big debacle with Humble's new policy change, I've been finding some time to go through all my old unused keys. I'm hoping to finish sorting it all out so that any risk of key expiry can be dashed. Especially if Humble surprises us with any new changes ;) This may be the last batch of 100% free CV games for now, but I'm surprised to see some gems. Like this one! I remember quite a lot of fanfare about this game bringing back the metroidvania hype.

I haven't had any trouble with recently revealed ancient keys. Still need to give this game a try myself.

Played this through with my brother some time back (Possibly 8 years back or so). Was an enjoyable title and would be keen to give it a go once again :)

I think you may have misunderstood the policy (if I'm reading the discussion correctly)? The change basically makes it so that they are not obligated to provide any keys for unredeemed games which they haven't been able to replenish after three years of their purchase.

Basically if you already revealed your keys, you should be fine.

Sorry for being a whole week late to respond. Also for the lengthy explanation, haha. In general, you're exactly right with the policy, but I've run into a few corner cases directly. A good handful of keys that were previously revealed had a new error message blocking the spot where the revealed key once sat. I had to open a claim with Humble support directly to remove this block on those keys on a case-by-case basis. It took a lot of messaging back and forth over a few weeks. Now, had I saved my keys in a document off of Humble's site, then yeah, no need for the hassle. The keys themselves were fine.

The change also means that Humble has no responsibility to do that work, or provide a key if it fails for any reason. Black Book and Golden Light are old keys that the Dev has pulled despite being revealed. Humble was compelled to provide store credit to compensate this, but with the new policy, they have no obligation to. Devs may be more inclined to deactivate old keys without warning since Humble no longer requires a commitment longer than three years. That part is a bit of an unknown, so i put the disclaimer up as a precaution.

Glad you were able to sort things out. At the very least, it's got people more inclined to reveal their keys straight away after purchase now. Though there's still cases where if you purchased a bundle later, you could have some keys that are already exhausted at the time.

Thankfully the situations like Golden Light seem to be the exception, one where the publisher is less likely to be trusted going forward. The other odd thing about that one is that the game ended up being given away on Steam for free for a short while earlier this year. Curious indeed.

Yeah, it's teaching folks the true nature of the digital marketplace I suppose. I saw that one of Humble's latest bundles had literally all keys out of stock, but it was still on sale. Imagine buying a bundle of games, having the transaction go through, and being told that they don't have any left to give! Good thing for Golden Light too- for those that couldn't claim their key, at least! Why hold on to a paid key for years or wait for Humble to restock a lost key when one day they'll just give it away for free! :P
