Just so you know, the winner of this giveaway (or any giveaway for that matter) is under no obligation whatsoever to accept your friend request or anyone elses. The giveaway creator is expected to use the winner's e-mail address to send him the game (whether it's a code or giftable copy). If the creator decides not to send the game simply because the winner didn't accept a friend request (or wasn't online when he was, etc.), the giveaway creator can expect a "not received" feedback from the winner and possibly a suspension from SteamGifts.

Not sure what the official rules say about this, but I agree with you 100%. This "I will add you to friends or no game" is complete bullshit. Don't add me, send it via email like SteamGifts wants you too. Not only it's build into the SG page, but it adds an extra layer of security, giving you an email proof if the correct key was sent or not.

The rules for how the person wants to give the code to the winner is what ever way they want to do it.
I will not send stuff by e-mail anymore because there has been a few cases where It took a while to finally get the person to hit the received button.
If you don't like that they will not send via e-mail, well thats just too bad isn't it. There is no rule that they have to send it by e-mail, there is no rule that they have to send it via friends chat.
Now I do agree that if someone is not on when the giveaway ends they will not get the code is silly after all not everyone can be on at all hours of the day. People need to sleep, people need to go to the bathroom, people need to go to work and/or school. The rules of the site says they have up to 7 days before a reroll can be asked for for this reason.

Actually, you are completely wrong. Check the FAQ and you will see the following text: "The giveaway creator has 1 week to email it before you can mark the gift as "Not received". If it's been more than 24 hours since the giveaway ended try and add the giveaway host to Steam and remind them to send the gift". In other words, the winner should be expecting an e-mail and not a friend request. Only if the creator is taking a long time to send the game is a winner advised to contact them with a friend request (so as to remind them).
Whether your experience with e-mailing people is good or bad is completely irrelevant as to what the rules are. You can ignore them at your own peril but, if you do, you may find yourself with negative feedback. Many people have had the same problem as you and they usually resolve it by writing "make sure your e-mail address is correct and that you check it if you win". If the person fails to leave a valid e-mail or doesn't check his e-mail, the giveaway can be legitimately re-rolled after a week.

My recent experience has been people not ever checking their email and I had to get a hold of them on steam. I will make every possible effort to contact a winner. I just don't want to send a code to someone who never sees it.

I edited my wording. I hope it is sufficient. Answer friend request or email confirmation. No much trouble to ask one or the other for as free game.

I simply saw that you were relatively new to SteamGifts and wanted to ensure you understood the rules regarding contacting the winner so as to avoid getting a negative feedback when you didn't deserve one. That said, updating the description was a good idea.
