Thanks for another FF giveaway :D Final Fantasy II is my least favourite of the Squaresoft FFs, but its still deserving of a place in my Steam Library.
In the last GA you said FF16 has risen to your top 3 FFs. Does it hold up, now that you´ve finished it? Wich would be the other two?

It's definitely risen to the second place currently, the first still being FF10 and the third being 7 Remake. The story really captured me and you can really tell they gave all they had to deliver an amazing tale on FF16. A masterpiece for sure.

That sounds very promising! 😀

2 is one of my favorites.
To be fair I played the GBA version which I believe had many improvements, only played 1-4(and only 1 was played on the original console).
never had the consoles to play later 3D ones, do want to try out one of the newer 3D FF's eventually.

I like FF2 for its historic value, since it established most of the storytelling-traditions of the series and I can respect the ideas behind the unusual chracterprogression, but in the end none of it really worked for me and apart from a few highlights I concider the soundtrack to be Uematsus weakest. But tastes are different and thats okay of course ^^
Of the first four, FF4 is my favourite by far and sits on an everchanging "place 3" in my personal Toplist. The top two for me are 6 and 8 but if you ask me for my third favourite, my opinion constantly rotates between 4, 7 and 10.
If you liked the games so far, I would certainly recommend playing the rest of the series 😊

I definitely intend to give later 3D ones a shot, I won't do the old FF7 no matter how good it is... I can only handle so much when it comes to old school graphics.

I wouldn't skip on FF7 just for the graphics. It has its flaws of course but once you're into it, you will be brought along for a good ride. Gameplay, characters and story are all top tier and even though I definitely love 7 Remake, I don't think I would like it that much without having played 7 beforehand. It really just adds to the 7 Remake experience and you will come to appreciate the changes way more after going through 7 to the end. But of course you're free to do as you please, it's just an observation in a comment section on the internet anyway!

FF7´s graphics sadly have aged REALLY bad, but if you´d be able to enjoy 8 or 9, there are mods that bring FF7 much closer to that level of quality. They are a pain to set up though (or at least they have been when I last played it a few years ago).
Of course there´s also the Remake. But thats a bit of a mixed bag too. In many ways its a PERFECT modernisation of the original and some parts are even far superior, but there are also few bigger changes I either dislike or simply cant yet determine because its not clear where they´re heading.
"FF7 Ever Crisis" is another upcoming remake thats closer to the Original. Looks promising, but its a mobile game so I don´t get my hopes up too high. We´ll see.
I guess FF10 might be a good next stop for you. Its the last of the classic games but still nice enough to look at in the Remastered version.
