Quick poll ; what's your favorite game genre?

I used to answer point n click adventure games, but I found, most of them are boring to me nowadays. My interest split from there into puzzle games and RPGs, which is basically the same, just divided. Story and more action in RPGs, puzzles all by themselves :)
I do love my quirky indie games though, that don't really fit into the usual genres.

who knows... but its most likely action rogutelite, action-adventure, visual novel or turn based tactics.

That's a tough question. I used to like RPGs, rogueli(k/t)es, bullet hells and some FPS like TF2, but lately I don't feel like gaming most of the time.

That's a shame! What happened?

I don't know. I guess I'm more distracted lately and when I get back from work in the evening starting a game seems to take more effort than just mindlessly scrolling reddit/9gag/whatever for a while.

I have absolutely been in that headspace for several years now. Doom scrolling can feel very draining somehow though, so I put a timer on social media apps. I have turned to lighter books (there's some cool stuff in Young Adult these days) or less pressing games, like choices matter games or such. Or solo boardgames are good, something that requires little prep like Okey Dokey or Ambagibus.

I feel you here. And I know it's sometimes difficult to enter something new , because you're not really in the mood to.
There are some games that allow you to play them a bit, without too much effort. Balatro recently was one of this kind for me.
I hope you will be able to find one that suits you!

crpg? Recency bias. It’s hard to choose! What’s yours? I’d guess point n click but don’t know.

2D platformers, there's something satisfying about just jumping on platforms, bonus points if there is a double jump or a dash.

I don't have one favourite genre, but games I like and often play tend to be from these genres: RPGs, point n click adventures, tower defens, strategy (real time and turn based) and action games.

Fluctuates but these days I'm more into exploration games. Shooters adds to my "natural" stress so I don't much play them anymore (well that's a lie, I do have Breakpoint installed and I play it once in a while).
Racing games when I feel relaxed enough and need some speed.
I do spend a lot of time in Riders Republic just chilling and hitting the slopes

I love farming sim, adventure games, and any types with a good narrative.

RPGs is my most played and probably favourite genre.
Some point and click / puzzles in between.
If I don't want to use my brain (that happens often), I play some cozy hidden object games!
I also play some other genres sometimes but most of the time the genres above.

I'm torn between puzzle games (e.g. the Portal series, Myst - like games and indies as Supraland) and RPGs (e.g. RDR2, MHW and open world games with medieval/fantasy settings like Skyrim/The witcher), but I also love games which involve stealth mechanics (e.g. Dishonored series, Thief, AC)

Racing and 3D platformers... but not generally combined 😅
(In other words, gimme a PS2 or PS3 and I'll be entertained for life hehe).

Probably shooters, although I'm not sure if I actually have a favourite genre.

Toss up between Point-and-clicks and Metroidvanias

Hard to say. I'm a gaming omnivore. If forced to pick, it would be a toss up between Metroidvanias and puzzle games. I mainly love games that reward exploration and don't force you down a strict linear path.

I guess cRPGs would rank higher for me if I had a longer attention span and a smaller backlog to be able to focus on them.

metroidvanias! they make the game feel like home, because i have to come back to places and know where everything is. they have to have satisfying movement controls though to make walking around the map pleasurable ^^

I consider myself a jack of all trades. I enjoy many different game genres, depending on how I feel. I enjoy games with a good story.

I like anything its open world where i can do random stuffs and mostly single player games.
RPG and action adventure and recent i started like roguelike and turn based games.
Sometime any casual game work for me to relax.
Also i am open to any type of games i like to diversity, i don't think i have a genre i don't like.
All time favorite it is Skyrim (i like Morrwind an Oblivion too) but Final fantasy VII was my first game played so i like FF series too.
