It's on Steam? Strange. Needs a good amount of tinkering to run on an NT kernel without graphical glitches galore. GOG patched it up, but Steam isn't really known for that.
Still, one of the underappreciated RTS legends of the 90s, and probably the second best real-time strategy game ever made after Ground Control (an even more forgotten gem). I hope the winner will have the patience to fully explore its nigh-limitless possibilities.

Most likely due to the unofficial patch. Well, patches. Several updates exists, depending on what the player needs. Also, keep in mind that almost none of the reviews are made by people who didn't play it in the past decade. It'd be interesting to see what a new player thinks about it nowadays. Luckily these old warhorse RTSs still get fresh blood from time to time to keep them alive, maybe you'll jsut do the same now. ^_^

I remember you are Dutch, but the Dutch I know on the strategy scene are really, really into the more mainstream RTSs. :) Poles, on the other hand, TBS with some RTS on top. Strategy, in general seems to be big at them.

yes you are right most Dutch love the action genre, but maybe because I'm afemale I love slow paced games, turnbased rpg/strategy, puzzle games or adventures :)
