Does anyone have any tips on understanding region restrictions?
I'm not quite sure what you are asking about. If you are asking about how to figure out the region restrictions for a key you bought (say, from Humble Choice), sensualshakti (aka Lilly) has been compiling sales threads for years and these threads always include info on the region restrictions for each key depending on the region you bought the bundle from. Here's an example thread.
Note that Lilly recently announced that they'd stop making these threads after Dec 2024 though, so my answer will likely become obsolete soon.
I've been pointed to those threads before and they seem to contain the info I'm looking for but they're a little confusing to read with all the different steam packages listed per game.

I just realized I pasted the wrong link to the "example thread" in my previous comment and i fixed it now. In the example thread, Lilly listed the subs for Pathfinder: Kingmaker Enhanced Plus Edition for each region,

NA + Africa + : probably {sub/307370} (cannot be redeemed in EU, RU/CIS, LATAM, SEA; essentially it can be redeemed only in: North America, Africa, some Central America)
NO WW KEYS are delivered for Pathfinder: Kingmaker — Enhanced Plus Edition item in this bundle.
So if you bought the bundle from Russia/CIS, Humble will give you a key for sub/307369. If you bought it from Latin American, you'll get sub/307371. And so on.
