I think I spotted a fake giveaway, what should I do?
We typically allow all giveaways to run their course without judgement, and allow the giveaway creator a fair chance to prove themselves and to come through with the gift in the end. An exception is when the giveaway creator enters a description that clearly states the giveaway is fake, or if the description illustrates a lack of understanding of how the giveaway system works. Please refrain from posting any comments accusing the giveaway creator of posting a fake giveaway, and only create a support ticket if the giveaway is fake beyond a reasonable doubt.
Your argument is flawed anyway. I have a bunch of gifts in my inventory, can you see them ? No you can't, because I have enabled the option to hide gifts from other people.
You don't have to change your profile itself, there is an option with Steam specifically for your inventory.
If you go to edit profile, then select privacy settings, you'll see there's an option to set your inventory to private, friends only, or public. Right below that is the check box in question, which specifically hides only your gift inventory:
"Keep your Steam Gift inventory private, regardless of your inventory setting above."
If you leave the inventory set to public, but check the box to hide your gift inventory regardless of settings, it only hides your gifts and leaves all other items visible.
Well the person doing this giveaway shows 0 items in their inventory. No cards or TF2 items. Nothing. And he has 1500 hours in TF2. That seems strange. So I'm wondering if setting profile to Friends Only will show 0 items or if he truly does have 0 items in his inventory. Plus I thought you were required to set your profile to public to use this site? Or is that just to enter giveaways? I'm not accusing him of anything I'm just curious.
