Description
Yeah, it’s Wednesday, & those who work may be experiencing the mid-week blues. So, I have created my own list of ten decent puzzle games, all at a great price in the Steam market. But, there’s a catch… they’re all being given away on my current giveaways on Steam Gifts, so you could potentially win one for the better price of nothing at all. All 10 are games I own myself & have played, some more than others. My rankings are based on my own playtime, achievies, & enjoyment… very scientifically. And, they all have cards.

All ten are open to everyone, with no restrictions or level requirements. As a final note, if the puzzle at #1 doesn’t get you through hump-day, you’re probably in serious need of a real vacation. I’m making the g/a’s for about 9 hours away, so they can be delivered for the afternoon doldrums. Good luck. The whole list is below. Look for them all. I will add the winner on Steam to deliver the game from my inventory.

10: Defy Gravity Extended

9: Kairo

8: Polarity

7: Waveform

6: Unium

5: Bacteria

4: Energy Cycle

3: Three Digits

2: Two Digits

1: Lyne

I like the order you put three digits and two digits in :P

Yeah, I noticed that coincidence. :D Too bad Unium couldn't be #1. Seriously though, Two Digits was a big challenge, and I beat the whole game. But, Three Digits is tough as nails. I still have a ways to go in that, since I don't quite have the desire to warp my brain totally most days. So I took that into consideration in my "Scientific" rankings.

Can you tell something from your experience with kairo? I watched the videos in the store and read some reviews, but I'm a bit confused. Many people wrote about the lack of story, but Lyne, Two Digits, Three Digits,... also don't have a real story and it's totally okay. Does it miss something? Does it appear like it should have more story? Antichamber comes to my mind, it's also kind of a puzzle game, but very different to the ones you mentioned first and I asked myself if kairo is somewhat comparable to it.

I don't know why they would write about a lack of story. You have a good point about the other games not having story. I think the problem is they didn't expect a puzzle game... but maybe a narrative. It has to be considered a puzzle to get any sense from it. Puzzles have no story, and no need for story. You just put meaningless pieces together to form a sense of satisfaction when they all "fit." So, yeah I agree with you. I think the only story you need in Kairo is the beauty of the sweeping lines, and the grandeur of design. It really is full of optical illusions. And, I wouldn't really compare it to Antichamber. It is more of a design puzzler made to both please the eye, and tease the eye, if that helps. Beauty is it's own puzzle, afterall.

Thanks! :-)
(Optical illusions remind me of The Bridge, but that's another kind of puzzle game I think :-) )

Yeah, it does remind me of the Bridge in the optical illusions. Very similar.
