I've seen The Martian yesterday - it's a good movie. Another one would be Interstellar. I also recommend both parts of Maze Runner, Mad Max and Jupiter Ascending (I know it has average reviews, but I liked it, although not as much as the others mentioned).
Star Trek DS9 and TNG -have the whole series on laserdisc xD- are probably my favorite if I had to choose.
Firefly is right up at the top. Also enjoyed Stargate, but I've only watched the main series.
I'm not sure I know anyone who had/has anything on laserdisc, they just never gained any traction here. I own TNG + DS9 on DVD and have Firefly/Serenity on DVD and Blu-Ray.
I had fun with the original Halo, and also loved Half-Life and especially Deus Ex.
(I really need to dig into some of the newer sci-fi titles in my backlog, though!)

I don't really watch much Sci-fi in terms of TV Shows, though I do re-watch Firefly probably every 2 or 3 years. The only current show that may be considered sci-fi would be Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
In terms of movies though, recent sci-fi movies I enjoyed include: Edge of Tomorrow, Ex Machina, Gravity, Interstellar, Predestination, Self-less, Source Code, Terminator Genisys, The Man From Earth.
If you keep doing higher & HIGHER level GA's, you will find yourself on people's whitelists like I did. Focus on the giving, & you will reap HAPPY BONUSES for doing what you love!
