Watch your six! -- Turbulence! -- Mach 2!
After ruteqube's Real True DOOM Facts™ and Real True Train Facts, and Doctor Thex's Did-You-Know series on Trains and Questions about Ships, everybody asked for more.... So...
In 1983, a metric-to-imperial conversion snafu caused Air Canada to misjudge the settings of the pilot's seat, who, being only about 4'9'' tall (105cm), was unable to control the plane and had to crash Land Inbetween Ottawa and Edmonton. No one was seriously injured in what is known today as the Gimli Incident.

Yes, I use it too, it is hard to tell it what to follow and what not to follow.... :(
So... have I just created an even HUGER train? No, wait -- is it a ubermegaoctopus made of trains? Awesome!

4'9'' is about 145cm not 105cm, nor has the accident anything to do with the height of the pilot... (I did get the LotR joke)

About Gimli: he took piloting lessons after Gandalf's last wish at Moria...
