Description

I had to do another experiment, so if you see this GA don't mention it on any of the posts :P

Bump?

Hah! I knew there'd be a hidden gib halfway through reading the thread!

I plan on doing it again from time to time. Nice way to find some real people ^_^

Thank you for both of these giveaways, haha.

I'd had a feeling there'd be something hidden when I first read your post.

Well it is obvious there would be extra GAs, i even explained how i hid it :D And there are still people who didn't find this one ^_^

I really don't know what to say about them. It was an Invite Only giveaway from a post about people not reading descriptions, so that should have excluded a lot of the public giveaway theories. Maybe the hidden text confused them. I didn't even use that on my ones where 5% on average made it from the public giveaway to the next one - I tried to make it unmissable. Here is one of my old ones

lol. I just mentioned something similar below. Wow. that is a much bigger difference then I would have expected for an obvious link.

I really don't know what to say beside lol ^_^
Those numbers are crazy, feel bad for the 5th guy. I read hs won other GA, but still :D

The numbers are better on this one. I wonder if it's because the first GA was accessed through a discussion post, which requires the user to be reading in the first place?

People do tend to read discussion so that is why there are more entries. But still 20% atm is not reading :D

I guess best way to compare those two categories is to make 4 same GAs at same time, but that could still make people on forum to check for more GAs and then figure out same thing happened on public GA.

Also i remember there was one guy who said he will enter only hidden GA to screw with the stats ^_^

I always read descriptions, regardless of it is a public, invite only or group / WL GA. 🙂

I always try to read group and wishlist GA descriptions, but public ones i can get lazy and just skip them :D

Not much of a task for me, since I enter maybe a dozen on average public GAs a week nowadays.

You said....

Some people in comments said stats are depressing, that people entering them might be less attentive, using some scripts for easier entry or bots. Noone knows in the end :D

This is very likely. But... I like this kind of GA since I always read. Better chance for the rest of us. :)

But if you think thats depressing..... Try putting nothing but a visible link in your GA to another GA of the same game. It will still have a lower number of entries then the first one. Personally I just laugh and enter both. :)

I have not done that test myself but I've seen it done a few times. Its both funny and sad.

Funny and sad at same time, I agree :)

I remember seeing the public ones and they had so many entries that I just skipped them entirely (must've been low on points so had to pick). I only check descriptions in giveaways I enter otherwise I'd never leave the site!!
Cheers..

"Exists in account", like probably most games (except Kingmaker and maybe 2 others, but anyway, I don't enter GA, that I expect to end with more then 300-400 entries), that you have used in your test.

Interesting, if the results would be significantly different for games, that are harder to get.

Well people either have the games or they hid them, so maybe only real test data would be with highly wishlisted games that are not released yet(like CP 2077, etc). But that test would cost quite a lot :D

:)

Still, the test are somehow skewed in that many people already have those games. Me included

I know it wasn't perfect and that getting better data would cost much more than one Indiegala HH, but oh well :D

Thanks for the wishlisted GAs.

While not done specifically as an experiment I am curious to see the outcome of something similar currently running - and might post follow stats (for science).

I like your idea of giving game you love and the way you do it :) But i guess each of those will have different number of entries, since reading is not something people do around here much :D

Very true, and I'm surprised that's even the case here - possibly there are a few bots on the discussions? Also my results would be skewed since I advertised both on a public GA and the discussions. But then, it was not really an experiment.

I am not so sure about bots, but many people just go after the link not reading anything. I guess there are even people who don't understand anything written in English :D

And i must say i love your nickname ^_^ And cute hippo image to go with it :D
