Hell yeah. In fact, I've been specifically hoping for this and Rise of Nations to get remasters/remakes (like the AoE games did, though hopefully in a more polished way, and with a less aggravating/consumer-unfriendly developer), but I'm to the point where I'm just itching pretty hard just to play them again as-is.
Rather, it sucks that this AoE-like genre (AKA real-time Civ-likes?) peaked in the early 2000s, and then just.. vanished. I mean, that's true of a fair number of subgenres I loved from the same late 90s~early 2000s era, but this is probably the subgenre I lament the decline of most. :S
I also vaugely remember buying Empire at War a few years after getting Galactic Battlegrounds, due to mistakenly thinking it was a sequel to Galactic Battlegrounds, and then getting disappointed when I realized it wasn't. :(
