Hi, I'm writing this message here in an old thread, so that other people won't see this -- I have tried solving your current puzzle (the one starting with level 1 "In the beginning!"), but then I jumped straight to level 7 ("Find the …") by checking a place and finding the answer. Is that okay, or should I go back and solve all of the previous levels first?
(Since then, I've solved 7, 8, 9, 10, and I'm looking at lvl 11 right now.)

you're not supposed to jump over levels, but you can continue from level 7 if you wish.
if you've solved crosswords, you should find the answer to #1 with ease
