Hi I'm back again with yet another question! So what is your favorite "maintenance" program. I am meaning what you use to make sure all drivers/programs are up to date and maybe fix registry errors and whatnot. I know CCleaner is pretty handy but if you think you use something better be sure to let it be known. :D

A side note, am I the only person that noticed the anime avatar has rug burns on both her knees for the steam sale? lol
Oh if you click on the cat they both go to bed, cute

I occasionally use Glary Utilities. No idea if it's actually good, or if I am turning my computer into a bad spirit from the 9th circle of hell.

Pretty sure all tools help, it might be a miniscule amount but still. If nothing else the "junk cleaning" part can free up a few gig here and there, probably doesn't mean much for someone working in terabytes though

Not a single one, I have no need for it. Those types of programs are like a placebo in my opinion. :)

? having the latest drivers and cleaning junk left by removed programs in your registry is placebo? ok

Latest drivers for what exactly? I manually update GPU drivers from time to time, I don't need external app to do that for me, and all other ones are working fine. All those registry optimizers/cleaners/boosters etc. can potentially do more harm than good if they delete something that they shouldn't have. I'm not using dozens/hundreds of programs for testing or something like that and uninstalling them afterwards so there is not a lot junk to be 'cleaned' in the first place. I probably should use some Windows component to do that once a year or so.

Omg i had no idea- never tought about what that C meant.
I used to use it until it had some drama over spyware or something that later they claimed was removed... never trusted installing it again.

? nothing wrong with the system but windows does not always have the latest drivers for a lot of things, notoriously gfx, and when you remove programs a lot of them just leave junk in the registry. Really neither thing is an issue but I like to "run a tight ship"?

For GPU drivers, I let Nvidia app and Intel Driver Manager take care of it automatically.
For other drivers on my Intel mobo, also the Intel Driver Manager (mostly wifi and Bluetooth, but those are not really necessary)
Windows Update as usual, and Microsoft Store as usual, for most of system/store apps.
You don't need 3rd party apps to mess with your Windows, everything is practically automatic nowadays.
Dism and SFC can take care of possibly corrupt installation files, also deleting junk/obsolete ones in the process, and keeping your Windows install healthy.
Edit: also, don't need to use them all the time. Once every 6 months or so is enough.

Ah, forgot the Microsoft PC Manager app. Get it for free on Microsoft Store, it's from Microsoft itself. It aggregates most (if not all) of Windows built-in cleaning features that are scattered all over windows settings, put them in a nifty systray icon, and even do it all automatically for you if you let it start with windows.
It's good to clean up the caches/temp files.

Win+R

temp
%TEMP%
SoftwareDistribution

Delete the first two (Ctrl+A, Shift+Del), delete the Download folder in the third.
Skip anything that can't be deleted.

The only thing i use is Revo Uninstaller that fixes programs leaving junk, only ever update my GPU.
And i personally would never chose "auto" or "quick" update/install for anything.

CCleaner, Space Monger. Microsoft Store is nice for keeping its software up-to-date. My MSI and Nvidia software is installed through the Store so it gets updated.

brew upgrade on macOS.

The best tool imo is to not install all the bs you don't need and then you don't need to use another tool to remove all the bs you didn't need and that didn't remove itself properly when you tried to. Also microsoft does too good of a job nowadays with their updates to use additional junkware for the same task.

Don't use any myself, but as an IT guy, if people are after something to check for drivers, I highly recommend, Snappy Driver Installer Origin - It is frequently updated, compact and portable ... plus there is an offline mode.
