Strange.
I have them all on my ignore list because I was thinking all of them are just trash shovelware.
Also the "normal" price for these "games" look ridiculous.
Are you sure these "games" are not just some trash with inflated price just to sell it at -90% for the true price?
Is there a reason why you like them and have them all but never played a single minute?

Indeed, they look kinda bad.
Weird that they get an endorsement from someone who hasn't played them. =(

Just because you don't like the look of a strange niche game, doesn't make it shovelware. Their games are nothing compared to the likes of Zup and what certain Russian "devs" churn out. They've released 12 small games since 2017... true shovelware "devs" tend to release twice or even three times as much stuff, sometimes even over the course of a smaller amount of time. They also tend to price their stuff at $0.99 or so, and try to attract users with cards or hundreds of achievements, and they put little to no effort into anything. Marginal Act's games don't even have cards or a ton of achievements - the highest amount of achievements a game has is 51.
Most likely, it's a single person working on these games, and they appear to actually put effort into making their games unique. About some of the prices, there are plenty of other games out there that have "ridiculous" price points for what they are. I'm not going to say that I'm sure of anything, but to me their games aren't anything close to shovelware, and they can set their prices to whatever they like.
Also, why haven't I played them? One word - backlog. I've been meaning to play them... I had some of them installed for awhile. I just didn't get around to it, or wasn't in the mood. If you don't like the look of them, that's fine. I, however, like weird / surreal games. I like that some of their games remind me of David Firth and Jason Steele. I like the artwork and I've watched gameplay videos, which is why I bought them. I thought perhaps a like-minded person or whatever would appreciate a post about the deal, but I guess not.
Is there a reason you couldn't just say "eh, it's not for me" and move on? Instead of you and Shannon making it out like I have an ulterior motive for posting? Sorry that I didn't post about Elden Ring or some other AAA game. My bad...

You're welcome. I appreciate the kind response. It's one thing if someone dislikes something and simply expresses that... that's fine, but it's another thing when those comments are like those above and below. I'm also going to take issue with a comment when there's the implication that I'm some kind of shill for an implied shovelware indie dev.

Shovelware "devs" tend to price their games like 20-40$ and do -90% sale so...
I also like weird / surreal games but they have to have solid gameplay or graphic or music or all 3 of these... running on a train mashing 2 buttons to not spill the tea is meeeh?
The game does not need to be AAA to be good. It just needs to have good graphic and gameplay and by looking at gameplay videos for these games... well... anyone can check the gameplay on youtube...
All in all I was just curious.
Most of the time when I promote a game I just play it and try to 100% it and write a review.
Maybe I will get them and try them when they end up in DIG bundle. Right now from my point of view and after looking at gameplays I think only "the Line" has any chance of being a game I would maybe maybe rate positive just because the game says it is "rogue-like / dungeon crawler".
Comment has been collapsed.
The majority of shovelware on Steam are $0.99 - $4.99, not "20-40$". Though, I'm well aware of the "devs" who do start out with high prices, as well as the ones who start out cheap and then up the price after they've sold / gifted enough copies to get a rating. Anyway, Marginal Act's games aren't even in the "20-40$" range... the highest price is $18.99, and that's only two games, so...
I was going to say more but then I erased it... this is a waste of time. You made up your mind before you even commented, and I'm not going to argue with you. I suspect you'd just retort with something equivalent to that oh-so-clever "DIG" jab there at the end anyway. I'll just leave my response as is, and hopefully I'll save myself from having to read another one of your needlessly snotty responses. Thanks for reminding me why I stopped posting years ago.

looks like the person uses different names to sell games on steam^^ dont know how many games he made in total. but as you guess its just one person making all the games, he is pretty fast in creating the games... looking at the reviews make me believe, he makes them fast but not good :(
and just by increasing the price from 1€ (shovelware) to 10€ or even above dosnt make the games better :(
but as you already bought the games (and as you are recommending this low rated but costly games), could you please play them and tell us your opinion? i also have many games in my backlog which looked once a time pretty nice to me. and after i tried many of them, they didnt pleased me^^
if you could explain us what you liked / disliked, we could much better decide if the game would something for us ;)

thank you. it wasnt planed and i didnt knew, it get automaticly added, when you click on developer / publisher and then the games O.o
i will avoid it in future^^
Comment has been collapsed.
Seriously? It's two names... and when you click them they go to the same page - it even says "Woo Foo" in the link. They obviously aren't trying to hide anything, like the "devs" who do and get banned for using a single email address for multiple names that aren't linked in any other way, and churn out stuff on a monthly basis. Releasing, at most, three small games in a year is not "fast." If it was basically the same game over and over, like Zup, low-effort broken garbage, or obvious asset-flipping, I could understand any backlash. Also, you don't know how long they've been working on them, nor do I. I just don't get it... they aren't overpriced asset-flips, nor are they cheap low-effort garbage, but somehow you people still look at them and seemingly have this need to find something wrong with them, other than the weirdness, or something suspicious. It's mind-boggling.
I do plan on playing the games in the future, but right now I have other games on my plate. I'm not playing them just because I'm asked to... watch gameplay and read reviews, and judge for yourself. I honestly didn't expect the responses I got for simply posting a deal, and daring to say that they deserve more attention. All I wanted to do was share a deal for some surreal niche games, and I thought bringing attention to unique indie games would be a GOOD thing.
These games are obviously a "you love them or you hate them" kind of thing. If you don't like the look of them or what you've read in a review, FINE, but basically comparing them to the likes of this or this or this or this or this or this or this or this or this or this or THIS, or the MANY others like them, is uncalled for. I guess it's time to go back on a forum posting hiatus, indefinitely.

No, I don't think you have an ulterior motive at all. BUT, I do think that before you endorse something and get fools to part with their money, you should at least play one of them so that you can give an honest opinion on it. Saying that they "deserve more attention" suggests that you have played them and think they're great.
I have a lot of games in my library, but of the ones I haven't played, I can't recommend to anyone just yet.
€7.66 is still a good bit to part with if the games turned out to be shovelware. Especially if you don't have a lot of disposable income. Just my perspective. ;)
Please don't take what I'm saying the wrong way.
Comment has been collapsed.
Uh, endorse? An endorsement is more like an advertisement or announcement of one's support or approval of someone or something, which is not what I'm doing. It's not even necessarily a recommendation either... I simply wanted to inform people about a deal related to a dev and their unique creations, which have become lost in the depths of the ever-growing sea of trash that Steam has devolved into over the years. If I did recommendations, I wouldn't be posting them on here, I'd write reviews... which I don't enjoy doing, so, yeah. I guess my perspective is to just inform people of something, let them judge for themselves if it's something that interests them, and let them decide whether or not they can or can't afford to purchase it. Too bad this couldn't just be a simple post... instead it turned into a headache.
Things said here have been taken the wrong way, which is easy when meaning or intention doesn't always translate very well with text. So, let's just agree to disagree about whatever. I'm done with this forum policing drama. Have a lovely weekend.

No.
Endorsement is giving an approval. Saying "these games deserve more attention" is an endorsement. Anyone reading your first post is going to think that you've played them from that simple statement. That's just the way the world goes around.
Just accept that you made a mistake and move on. I didn't call you dishonest. Just pointed out how your post came across. No need to take it to heart or get a headache over something so trivial.
If you had said "These games by this Studio are currently 90% off. I think they look nice, so thought I'd share." Then I would think you didn't play them but found them and think them interesting. Understand now?
Comment has been collapsed.
i get 80% off not 88% but i aren't spending over £30 for these (never heard of them)
edit: £30+ is what they normally cost i'd pay just under £8.00 but i still see better bundles else where

It's something for me to take a look at, at the very least. Especially since at least Vasilis has a demo.
I'll check out the rest after I've had a chance to try the Vasilis demo.

could you please share your thoughts about the Demo?

The little bit that I've played was fairly good, and I loved the art style enough that I wish there were emotes and Steam backgrounds for the game. I think .90 is a good asking price for it. I've been considering getting it, if I can pick up a Steam wallet card before the sale is over.

I've always wondered if people actually enjoy playing these kinds of games or they just buy these to increase +1 and to diversify their game libraries with thousands of cheap games.
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't do +1's, and my library size is irrelevant. I only add things to my library that I find interesting and intend on playing some day. I do buy a lot of bundles (I avoid DIG), and sometimes in those bundles you may find one or two games with questionable quality (for example: Indiegala), but I don't activate those ones. Yeah, with the size of my ever-growing backlog, I'll probably die before I get through my entire library, but regardless of the size of my library... as I stated before, I only add things I find interesting to it. Also, yes, I do have a handful of questionably poo games in my library... a lot of people here are going to. Sometimes you think something is interesting in the moment, but later on you change your mind. It happens.
Anyway, Marginal Act's games are obviously niche, and not everyone is going to find them interesting, and I completely understand that, but that doesn't automatically make them terrible games, like certain people seem to think. No, I haven't played their games, but I find them interesting, and some of them I've never really seen anything like them, which is why I wanted to share them. Maybe someone else would be interested in their existence.
Below, I have listed a handful of games I've finished, and enjoyed, that are in a similar vein to some of Marginal Act's games, mainly either visually or in the WTFness department, and potentially gameplay wise for some of them (I'm talking about stuff not in the bundle as well). Stuff from Harvester Games and the Rusty Lake franchise are on similar weirdness levels. I don't believe I've ever seen anything quite like Bloody Trains, Tutututu, Why Pizza or Fight With Love on Steam, which is why I said that some of their games are unique. Anyway...

that's very interesting :)
do you play these games though? Also do you enjoy them? As for many of the games you've listed here; some of them are really good indie games imo like Pony Island, Creepy Tale, Knock Knock, Detention, Bulb Boy, Fran Bow, Little Misfortune.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, I've played, finished, and quite enjoyed all the games I've listed above. If you mean, have I played Marginal Act's games, then no. I haven't played them, but I purchased them because of similarities to the games in the list I provided. This post wasn't meant as a promotion or anything like that. I just happened to realize that the bundle for their games was on sale, after I'd purchased a game that's in said bundle. I love weird, F'd up, and surreal games, whether it's graphics wise, or the story, or the gameplay, and I wish there were more games on Steam that fit those descriptions, that actually appear to have effort put into them. That's why I shared the deal.
I like when there's kind of unexplainable, wtf things in a game, but their existence may or may not make sense in the game's universe, whether it's by the game's own logic, or just the fact that it's a weird game, so it's going to make sense that it contains weird shit. Like, imagine this scenario... we know how cars work in our world, but say, in a game, the car is flipped upside down, and the tires are attached to the roof, and the people are strapped into the car and sit in it upside down... and somehow the car still manages to run. By real world standards, that would be illogical, but in the game's world there's some reason why it is the way it is (or maybe it's never explained). It's just a silly example that popped into my head.
I recently finished Paradise Killer, which I went into mostly blind. I didn't read reviews, watch any gameplay, or even read the description... I'd just looked at the screenshots, which was enough to let me know it was going to be interesting, and yes, it was quite an interesting experience. The setting and story are weird, as well as the characters, and even their names, but the level of strangeness of things is fitting and makes sense in the game's universe. A weird universe is going to contain weird things. Things are kind of explained in descriptions in the game, but in the end you're still left thinking, "what the hell," but not in a bad way. Anyway, yeah, I'm not great at explaining things, and perhaps I can be a bit long-winded when doing so, but I hope what I've stated here makes sense, if any.
Another game I should have mentioned before was Hylics, but I forgot about it because my list above is of my "perfect games" on Steam, but because Hylics doesn't have achievements, it doesn't show up there.

I recently checked out the Vasilis demo, and thought it was an okay adventure game. I'd rate it 6/10.
I also liked the quirky art style. Though it's not at the top of my wishlist, it's still something that got my attention.
But I do think that most folks who pick this sort of thing up usually do so for another game in their libraries, and mostly do so via cheap bundles that give you several games for less than a dollar. The fact that Vasilis' profile features are still limited in spite of it being out for years just proves this.
It's a shame that many games like this never get any decent attention.
Comment has been collapsed.
They look decent, although my backlog suffers enough. It's funny how trippy FPS games, like Post Void or Cruelty Squad, are met with bigger success than any other type of trippy games. A shame, but such is the fate of niche games.
