Well, obviously. Asking for whitelists, even as a joke, isn't exactly good practice. :P

This wasn't the first time I've done this:

Maybe that should be made into an announcement or something so that EVERYONE knows and not just those who witnesses cg doing that or that read those particular threads themselves. Two months is a bit long to take action on something if it breaks a rule, don't you think?
I'm really getting frustrated with the lack of communication here from those that make and enforce the rules. How are we supposed to know these things otherwise? I shouldn't have to get an answer from someone who was lucky enough to see it when it happened.

I'd say it falls under the no begging rule. Or if you feel generous you could call that even trading. Either way both would be off limits on the forums.
It just feels common sense to me to not create threads asking to be whitelisted though, so haven't even considered that it needs an explicit rule.

Meatee wasn't even begging. It was just a clickbait title that was used to get people to enter his giveaway.
Once cg made it a rule it should have been added to the F.A.Q. or listed as an Announcement. That same common sense tells me that if he had done so we wouldn't be having this conversation right now and meatee wouldn't have made that thread title that started this all.

Begging or jokingly begging, he did write in the first thread at one point that 20+ people had already added him to their whitelists according to the stats. So no, it really wasn't "just a clickbait".
But in the end, all that was done was that his thread got closed. He didn't get suspended so this was just something that made him aware that he shouldn't do things like that in the future.

Agreed! It didn't indicate that it was just a method to invite people leaving comments to his giveaways at all.

mods seem to do what they want here, theres no consistency. i started a thread asking for donations to a cancer charity linked to a live 24hr gaming stream at a lan and it was immediately removed within seconds and the reason given was i couldnt ask people for money even if it was for a good cause but somebody else started a thread asking people to buy something (i wont link the thread) and that was allowed to remain?

I'd planned on doing a secret giveaway for everyone that commented in the thread (regardless of whether they Blacklisted or Whitelisted me or not, that wasn't the point. Just as long as a comment was made), but they killed it. If you commented, you'll be in for my current Tomb Raider giveaways in just a few minutes, but there's not enough to do the big giveaway I planned.
