I've been able to use the community market for a long time, but today I received the error:
"Your account must have a successful purchase older than 30 days, but not older than a year in order to access the Community Market."

So Steam can revoke your access to selling items on the community market if you're not buying games through their store?

You can also add wallet funds… that also lifts the trade suspension.

I just bought a game as a gift, it doesn't count. So I have to buy it to add to library?

You probably just need to wait 30 days, but not sure.

Seems like gift purchases don't count, as per the following support article: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1047-EDFM-2932

You need to add funds or buy something for yourself, then wait 30 days.

I'd assume what CR7 said-
30 days is the max duration for credit card fraud bouncing on purchases, which is why Steam uses it as its limit on things like trades and purchases.

Looks like you've just gotta wait a bit. :X

No need to add, if buy a game already, now go to the Steam market, there is a date there, and yup, 30 days later you can access Steam market.

Gift purchases do not count..

Also you have to wait 30 days,as to use the market you need to have a purchase older then 30 days but not more then a year

I suspect the gift not working because you could get those without using the store.

Just buy one of those under 25 cents game every few months, that'll keep your Steam market active and without problem~

Rather easily done by selling cards you've farmed off games, really, you don't need to put money into your wallet at all, except for the fist time unlocking the market. From then on just sell cards and every few months buy some cheapo few cents game.

It may be an error. Check Steam forums. Had that happen to me during Christmas even though I'd definitely made purchases within the year, possibly due to using an alt on mobile, where the alt has not purchased anything in over a year (no real causes for the error that I'm aware of, but that's my best guess regarding anything that may have changed).
The main fix I've read about is to install a demo or a free game. I'm not 100% certain that that's what fixed it for me, but everything worked fine again after doing that.

Edit: and now I'm realizing I'm replying to a necro'd thread... thanks, necromancer.

i keep my alt alive and trade-able just by activating a free steam key game on it once every ~6months.
