Sorry if there has already been a post about this, but has anyone else noticed that certain inventory items, like for games no longer listed on the store, items that could no longer be listed on the Market can now be listed again?

Does anyone know any story or info behind this?

If there was already a post about this I'll erase this one.

Do you happen to mean Monsti and Endorlight? Their status changed to available again yesterday, so items can be traded again as well.

Yeah those were the first two i noticed. LMFAO, please don't tell me it was only for those two games. I was assuming this was a bigger thing than that.

No. Those two are by the same dev, so I assume that they and Valve just cleared earlier issues.

You can exchange with others to make a set.

This feels like an automated Steam support message based on some keywords in the post :D

Haha.
I do feel pretty dumb though. I just happened to have items from those two games mentioned above and was hoping that this was something broader in scope. Like they were gonna let all previously marketable items be marketable again. I guess if the games aren't for sale and/or the companies no longer have a relationship with Valve, they can't give the publisher or dev a cut of the inventory item's sales? So they just don't allow people to resell the stuff if the game is gone? Kinda stinks for anyone that bought an expensive item and wanted to resell it at some point. I once paid a couple of bucks for a nice background and ended up reselling it for as much as I paid for it. It kinda stinks if people end up getting stuck with items because, and I know ultimately they don't have the legal right to assume this, but people do kinda assume that the items they buy on the market will remain marketable.

How I think about is that trading cards are intellectual property of the publisher of the game, Valve just gets a cut from the fees. If the publisher is banned from Steam (or in any way no longer does business there), Valve can't just let you sell the cards and collect 100% of the fees.

I still have 3 cards in my inventory for the game Cold Dreams that cannot be sold. It says "This item can no longer be bought or sold on the Community Market".

That really sucks. You probably can't even turn cards into gems can you? I'm trying to remember if you could turn items that lost their marketability into gems or not, and I don't think I have any examples left in my inventory to try to find out.

I just checked and I do have the option to turn them into gems.

There are a few groups (i don't know the names) that will trade for them. I think they're collectors.

Dead Items Trading Post is one of those groups ... it is probably the #1 one actually.
