Why is this a poll. The answear is no. You can see which ones support steam cloud by changing your steam client to "List" view. Use gamesave-manager to backup your saves.

all my threads are polls since i am curious as how many people read the threads, most people wont comment but most will vote on a poll

It's amazing that nobody answered "Yes" in the poll so far, even as a joke.

Oh, thanks for taking the time to do that :3 good to see that most games support cloud, lets hope sometime all do

I wouldn't expect that to happen any time soon. It's already ridiculously easy for developers to implement cloud support but some still don't, and it's too late now for Vavle to make it obligatory (which they should have from the start imho).

Nearly all do if you use the app game save manager. Many do if you use the app Razer Cortex.

Congrats on new rig! :)
Only if the game supports Steam Cloud. Better back them up before migrating to new system.

Unfortunately something as simple as this should be, is not working properly. There are cases that I have lost my progress when I logged in from a different computer. In some cases the save file was only accessible from the original instal and in some other cases the save file was lost completely, after I logged in from another place/computer.

Even though it happened in a small percentage, it is still an issue. And yes, I am talking about games that they are supposed to support steam cloud.

It's because Cloud is actually a somewhat derpy autosync. The save files are created on your computer inside a directory of Steam, and after you quit the game, a process syncs it back to the cloud.
Except when it gets stuck, gets in an endless loop, just says it uploaded but didn't, results in a corrupt upload, or forgets to mark files as uploaded. Which, to me, feels like 90% of the cases.

I compress mine. Got 4 Gbs of saves? Compress them to 200 Mbs, works wonders :)

No. depends on the game
and don't always tell you
best thing is to backup alllllll of them (that you are not sure) and if you have cloud, great, no need to copy them back in

Interestingly, I recently found a game that resumed my pc save on my laptop even though it did NOT have the cloud tag...

its usually a good idea to backup all your save before moving to a new rig (thats what im planning to do myself as soon as I will get a brand new desktop pc)

for games that have steamcloud support, its not necessary BUT one can never have enough backed up save files (even though chances are that the save file you transfer to the new hardware might be older than the one stored in the cloud)

once I lost more than 20 hours of progress in Half Life because I didnt synchronised my saves to the cloud ><

I usually just back up My Documents and call it a day.

If you reformat or clone regularly (for cleanliness), you can move your User folder to another drive (google how to do it) and you're good to go and won't have to back up as often (though you still should to a safe source). Mine gets backed up to my server once a week and my Documents are kept on a drive separate from my OS drive. Takes me 20 minutes to clone my drive back to a factory fresh install and all my documents are still there.

I think it's good practice to back them all up, even if they have the Steam Cloud tag. You never know when you'll be thankful for it.

Backup is always the best option. As already explained only some games save on cloud, its better if you save all games progress manually.

got frustated by my skyrim save file on the cloud, it is 70mb of save file.. dang it, so i disable it's cloud (it cause me to upload 70mb to the cloud everytime i done playing the game)
