Civ isn't worth it without a few expansions on top of base game anyways is my experience with 5 and 6.

I am 100% waiting for some time on 7

I was just counting the years, as people at places were complaining about the release price about 7. It's quite high, but yeah, in a few years it plummets (and I think within a year or 1.5 the base game was bundled as well with 5 or 6)

On Fanatical's page it only appears for Mac and Linux, does it work on Windows?

It should work. There was a similar question regarding a deal from Aspyr in the past, where there only was mentioned Mac and Linux and it also worked on Windows, because there are no special keys for these versions.

EDIT: See here

Aspyr did sell Mac only keys before, but it was only for a Call of Duty game and AFAIK they stopped selling it a long, LONG time ago.

They've been my source for cheaper old games in regionally priced stores... usually.

To me the best Civ is Colonization. ;)

You mean the original Colonization?
Or the mod for CIV IV ? I found it very good, the very same game than the original but with an actual look.

I mean the original. I briefly tried the Civ 4 mod back when it was new, but went back to the original very quickly. Doesn't mean I thought it was bad, I just was so used to the old version that I wanted to keep playing it and didn't feel the need for an improved/updated version.

Two days ago I managed to beat CIVIII and I enjoyed it a lot. In fact I want to play one turn more. Just one more... :D
I don't know if start now CIV IV or V. Tried them some years ago but didn't hook as much.

I have CIV VI (only base game + 2 civilizations DLC) but will wait for a better offer on steam.

That's the idea ! :p Civ3 is incredibly addictive, i had a laptop at that time with just this game installed.
Contrary to civ 4, in civ5 you move on hexagons and units are not stackable. Some like it some don't. But it was a huge (and maybe only) critic against 4 : the endless stacks of units. There has been huge praise for Civ4 AI.
I almost didn't play 5 and 6, played 3 and 4 for hundred of hours but not on Steam. But 5 is considered now the most achieved.
Leaders in 6 are more secondary characters, with a less realistic design. Many players didn't manage to adapt to 6 and gave up, some returned to 5.

Civ4 AI coder made 2 great games since, both praised for their AI : Offworld trading company and Old world
If you liked Civilization, you would like Old world, it's Civilization but just in an extensive ancient times.

I know something about Old World, eventually I'll try it (in another life?)
You know better than me what disturbed me on CIV V :D

The best of all is that you don't need to play the newest version, you can continue perfectly well with CIV 3 or 4.
I'm old to know (now) that newer doesn't mean better!
