So I now have 25% negative rep because some shithead that I've never even dealt with before hit me with a negative. Is there any way to avoid this? I make my intentions very clear in trading plaintext keys (I have a .txt file with all of them because I usually forget to go "create gift link"), and I'm very nice, I promise. Do I negative rep him for faking one on mine, or is that just doubling down on the problem? Is there a "report rep abuse" button anywhere?

That user has 0/-7. Nobody will believe his "reps".
Anyway, I guess it is a ticket for support under the "Other" category. Or report the person itself with a misuse of trade feedback, but that may take… longer to process.

But my rep is +3/-1. Will anyone bother to believe me? Do people go off of just straight looking at "oh wow he's already got a negative rep better watch out"?

If they check your rep feed, they will. Traders with low morals will hold your low +rep amount against you and demand to go first anyway, this changes little.

By the way, that guy is also an achievement cheater. Kinda pathetic.

(Also, seriously, don't bombard SteamRep moderators with answers bumping your ticket. They are as swamped as support here is.)

Just curious, how can you tell if someone's cheated their achievements?

He has a 100% achievement score on Mafia II. With 12 hours of play time. The current speedrun records of the parts that give achievements is a little over 10 hours, and those only cover the storyline achievements. Several achievements are about collectibles, of which one is almost 4 hours long on its own as you need to visit almost every small block in the city on foot.

But he also has 100% in Injustice after 4 hours, Call of Juarez in 2 hours Sonic ALl-Star Racing in 1 hour, Red Faction, CoD: BOP 2, Blackguards with 0 seconds played.

He is an achievement cheater.

Ahhh, fair enough. That's pretty obvious then. I thought there was some new website I hadn't heard of that tracks fake cheevs or something. xP

Astats does a pretty good job at pointing out fake achievments. At least so I hear. I never used it. :)

The user also has another sg account, so he could report him for that instead.

Both accounts show definite activity and none of them have been used too long ago to say one is abandoned.
Well, looks like we have a new winner on the "Who Gets a Permanent Suspension Next?" show.

Imagine that -7 being given by a guy with -12 rep, a guy with -4 rep, a girl with -8 rep, a guy with -3 rep, a llama with +1/-5 rep, a guy with -5 rep, and a "girl" with +3/-9 rep....
But wait, that -12 rep guy might have received....

Could be, but highly unlikely.
Except maybe for that llama. Never trusted them, sneaky little buggers.

you can obviously see that the person who gave you negative rep has even more negativity. no need to worry about it :D

You should contact support/ file a report his profile, but most likely nothing will happen.
There's too few support members and aren't adding more any time soon.
Even if they got to reading it, they often have no way of knowing who's in the wrong.

Sorry.

Do as jims said, the whole thing is annoying and may take a bit, but as talgaby pointed out, that guy doesn't look credible in anyway, so your ticket should be resolved.

Don't let it get to you, I'm sure no one will take this -1 serious.

Cool cool. I already reported the scumbag, and I just didn't want to get my trades sunk because of some random basement-dwelling loser. Thanks for the advice everyone!

Just don't let people tell you your less trustable, because you got -1 by that guy. Everyone can see that this -1 is not too credible. And as talgaby pointed out, you will have to go first in many cases anyway, as you are new to trading.
Have patience with support, they are understaffed and surely want to help you with this, but it may take awhile.
Just keep in mind, that this -1 isn't really that bad. It sucks, but good traders won't hold it against you.

People giving -rep feedback with such stupid "argument" while themselves has a lot of -rep its just.... well, stupid

You can report him for "misuse of trade feedback" and then you'll just have to wait for 1-3 years till someone sees your ticket. Till then, you'll have 10 more -rep, so you'll have to report them too, wait 1-3 more years, and so on.

he has -7

anyone trading and thinking a bit doesn't look at the numbers alone, also checks why there's a negative rep.
-1 won't matter.

Well considering that this tipe of support tickets take to long, you can always -rep to random people until they fix your problem xDD then maybe in a near future if all people do that this web start to implement a better + or - rep system.

it's just an idea :P

Short answer - Report
Long answer - you don't.

Trade more, then it will become better than -25%?

I joke, but it's really probably the only solution. Doesn't sound like these negative rep tickets get handled at all.

You can't. I tried for months. You can't remove a fake negative rep.

You may try by creating a support ticket but that will most likely not work anyway.
The best way to get rid of negative rep is to contact person who has done that to You and make a deal.

I know I always post that in similar threads but I feel like I should let others know that there is no hope :(

Edit. Seems like people have already said that it's impossible to remove those reps. Well, that's what I wanted to say here :P

There's only two users who can remove trade rep, cg and the other person hasn't been online in two months.
