Well I'm new to this site and I'm trying to level up but I really don't understand this CV thing or how much I have actually given. I used this site http://www.sgtools.info/sent/goatnad to see what my value was but it says I only have $21.90 given.... It also says every game I have given is a bundle game but none of these were bought from a bundle. How do I know what games are bundle games then? Why does it say I only have $21.90 instead of the actual value of the games? I want to level but I'm not going to keep putting games up if all I'm going to get is $1 for games that sell for $10 to $20 on steam. This just seems a bit ridiculous to me.

This is a perfectly reasonable experience to have if you haven't read the FAQ in detail. Most of us didn't, and gradually learned the ropes by reading (or posting) questions like this. Even if you scour the FAQ and Guidelines, there are still little details that you can miss.

http://www.steamgifts.com/bundle-games is your friend, use it to search for any games you want to give and expect full value.

Now more indepth.
A lot of games, have been sold before at massive discounts, or as the name implies, bundled on Humblebundle, indiegala, etc. Once that happens the site decides to reduce all giveaways from that point on so no one just stockpiles keys and waits to get full credit.
Now the value you get from games listed as bundled is, if I remember right, lose 85% of their Steam Value, hence that's why you get less.
No, they don't care if you paid more, or got it outside of the bundle. They don't want too (and really don't have the time) to track down and fact check everyone's purchases. It sucks, especially if you aren't aware ahead of time, but it is what it is.

Bundled games CV (on or after first bundle date) = 15% of retail base price for US Store.

More than 5 copies -> 10% less CV each additional copy

Check from bundle list and avoid games that is heavily discounted before giveaway is your best bet.

Did you pay $10 or $20 for that game?

The CV applies to games that have been available for a significant discount. Even outside of bundles, there are games that can be purchased for a lot less than their value, so the rule is designed to prevent people from gaming the system. Because it's not possible to ascertain how much someone actually paid, games that make the bundle list are discounted by 95% (and if a game was available for free, you can't get any credit for it).

there's a list somewhere (and Im sure someone will post it) of which games made the bundle list

Because, seriously, The Witcher is regularly available for a buck and a half, Frozen Synapse Prime is regularly below $5, Krum, Sniper Ghost Warrior 2, Just Cause, Serious Sam 2 and all the other games you've given away are also constantly on sale. I severely doubt you paid full price for any of them

It's pretty well explained in the FAQ, the button at the top of the page.

yes amnuzjehhh, this is for real. If your not going to post info that helps me then don't post on my threads. I don't need a child posting useless comments. To the rest of you thank you for the help. I get my games through tremorgames.com so I don't actually pay anything for them. Sadly 95% of the games I can get are bundle games and I'm not going to keep wasting my hard earned tremor points on games just to earn next to nothing from them by giving them away. Again thank you to all the people that actually offered help.

most stuff on tremor is bundled, because it's super cheap. that's why it only gives you 15% of the steam store value (or everyone would be farming cv with those games).

I think 100% of games on Tremorgames that cost below 10k points are bundled.

To give bundle games only 15% of their value is a safe measure so everyone will not be at a high level swiftly.

I would be fine with get less than full value for the games but I'm getting $1 for some of the games I gave away. 15% just seems really low. Oh well. at least I figured all this out before i gave away to many games. I'll just keep my tremor points and buy games I actually want. last question then I'm gone. How do I close this thread?
