why the hell wont it recognise i own a game

im tring to enter a contest for dlc for a game i own and it keeps saying im missing the base game even though im not missing the base game. I have repeatedly tried to re Sync my comp/steamgifts but the stupid thing still doesnt recognise me as owning the base game. Any ideas on how to fix this quicker rather then latter would be appreciated

What game? As ladeeda said, some games don't register because they don't show in your library unless you play them. Most F2P games, Serious Sam 2, A Game of Dwarves, for example.
