Gaming = No!

Even though Windows isn't great, I need it for gaming. I don't like it but that's just the way it is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Only if we are talking about desktop OS. And even on desktop gnu/linux can be a good choice for someone who know thinks that facebook=internet (or, vice versa, thinks that he uses facebook and not using internet). Of course this person would need help with installation and configuration, but other than that - linux will be good for them. But advertising gnu/ linux on gamers discussion board is dumb, yes.

Nah, I'll stick with Win7 for now. When all support ends for it I might move to Linux though, I certainly don't want to have Win10. That's spyware.

I already did that, although I do dual-boot with Win 7. Sorry if that makes me a bad person but there is some software I need to use to earn a living. And also some games I like that only do Windows..

Oh ok I din't realise that.
Isn't it true Ubuntu had a deal with amazon and other companies to for their products to appear in the search results of the os' search-engine? I hear folks complaining Microsoft fills their os with web-services and other unwanted/unnecessary junk, but in this aspect Ubuntu is hardly any better, is it?. I wanted to try trisquel, but maybe I will instead go for a plain old Debian.

edit, under ubuntu, there is no loading bar (right ? ) so it poped 100 % at the end. so it looked like it was doing nothing T.T

need to use that command line in terminal : LD_PRELOAD='/usr/$LIB/libstdc++.so.6' DISPLAY=:0 steam

Don't use any version of steam you can get in the ubuntu repo. Download the client directly from steam. Works great for me on both VM and directly installed on a laptop (Mint MATE which is based on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS).

I think it's better than shit. Significantly.

I have an easy time setting up a good "workflow".

My only real annoyance is the change to Windows Update, but I fixed that by disabling the service completely and enabling it on demand at my leisure.

arch linux
muh KISS philosophy
muh bleeding edge
muh rolling release
muh minimalism

(I actually like Arch but it's a meme and popular to get sick street cred by posting riced desktops on imageboards)

Gee, I don't know, should I slick my hard drive, relearn an OS, and have to use WINE to play anything that matters, or just use Windows 10 like a normal person?

See, when I ask "because," I expect to get an actual answer that tells me at least a single fucking thing, instead of some chump saying, "because I said so."
You didn't give me an actual answer, you went with the second one.

I don't need audio setup past Audacity. I know how to defrag my drive. I use notepad for writing things down. I can't use and don't need that customization. I don't have twenty useless programs clogging up my right-click menus. I don't go onto weird websites where I'd get malware. I don't care about updating when it does it while I'm sleeping. And I don't need Git.
Not a single word of that was mentioned in either of your last comments about this, and even less of it matters.

Then why in the name of God should I bother deleting a terabyte and a half of stuff just to install an OS that can't do anything better than what I already have?
