Do you get a lot of weird ads like this too?
You should whitelist sites that don't use intrusive ads (like SteamGifts). Plenty of sites only get income by ads, without it they'd die. SteamGifts is one of them.

I obviosly use adblocker, but I whitelist the ones that deserve.
Also, I get a lof of ads in SG about local girls that want to date me. Actually I want to date girls, but I'm pretty sure I never enter that kind of sites, so I wonder how they know that about me (I prefer getting OP's ads)

SG used to not have ads. For me, SG will always not have ads -- I love uBlock & uMatrix. If server costs are an issue (which I surmise there is not since cg has optimized things pretty well) there should be a donate option -- I'd happily donate; iirc I was in top 25 donators on SteamCompanion and with the amount of users here on SG if there was a similar donator list there'd for sure be even crazier competition on donating.

They are sometimes targeted to your personal browsing history (I'll get eBay ads for specific exact items I've viewed on eBay, for example), but I think they are also collectively targeted. By that I mean you might be seeing something that other people who visit steamgifts are interested in, in case you might also be interested in it.

I think there are also ads based on people around your general area. I am getting more and more Arabic ads since Syrian civil war, I dont even know what they are advertising.

I also get ads very specific to the line of work I'm in, because when I'm at work I'm googling a lot of work-related things, and then it shows them to me on nights and weekends when I'm trying to escape work. :P

i wouldn't mind a few of those, what i hated and caused me to turn adblocker back on for this site was a ad with sound. some dumb cookware ad, but it had a loud sound to it.

Those video ads are horrible on my phone, it bogs down the mobile browser so much the site is nearly unusable. But I usually use the sg app which has no ads anyway. :p
